Very "mature": image of an Android pissing on Apple's logo found in Google Maps
The rivalry between Apple and Google will certainly remain one of the most heated ones in the tech world for some time. Both giants regularly takes light (and sometimes not so light) jabs at one another - in one of Apple's 2014 keynotes, Tim Cook referred to Google's Android as "toxic hellstew of vulnerabilities", while Google has also mentioned Apple a few times in its announcement events.

Well, the rivalry took an unexpected and not-so-mature turn - the folks over at TeamAndroid have stumbled upon something pretty curious on Google Maps. If you navigate to the outskirts Rawalpindi, a large city in northern Pakistan, you'll come across an Android logo urinating over Apple's logo. The exact coordinates of the controversial image are N 33°30'52.5", E 73°03'33.2", you can check it out here.

We wish we could say we were joking, but no, we're not. If you switch to "Satellite View", the slightly-offensive scene disappears in thin air. We can't say for sure whether Google has closed its eyes before this not-so-gentlemanly jest, probably the deed of a wrongdoer who has decided to express their ever-lasting love for Android with the help of Google's Map Maker.

Apple CANNOT "buy Google very easy". Even if they TRIED, regulators would be all over that and shut it down fast.

I guess you're wrong about that since the one from the story and the one you linked to were both removed.

This is my laugh of the day. haha I had to go to it on my phone and screenshot it. Some backstory, from 2001-2004 the "urine on" stickers were very popular. Most of them had Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes being the one to take a leak. They did them for Ford, Chevy, Dodge, and a lot of other car manufactures. Of course these were never licensed by the legitimate Calvin and Hobbes, but they were extremely popular stickers in the south. I am anti-bully, and someone whom doesn't like things taken too far, but this is an innocent jab, and a funny one. Thank you Phone Arena for giving me my daily laugh.

What's even more unbelievable is that other tech sites are linking to Phone arena's story but even they didn't mention about Map Maker in their article. Didn't expect such childishness neither from Phone arena nor from android authority. Peter K. please at least mention this in the article that this is the work of an individual and not Google or Google reprensentive.

Hey there, azzad! We are pretty aware of Google's Map Maker. If you actually read the very last sentence of the article, you'll certainly notice that we've narrowed down the likely culprit for this "easter egg", who is most probably a mischievous wrongdoer. Nobody mentioned anything about Google editing a landmark location in a little-known Pakistani city in order to piss off the folks over at Cupertino. Cheers!

well thats a well known Pakistani city

Not to be rude but my friend the actual culprit wasn't that clear either. After reading the article most people would be led to believe that it was actuallly Google or a Google employee doing this. Easter egg would be something that came from Google wouldn't it? (I don't exactly know the concept of easter egg) I believe the comments are there to show that people believed Google to be responsible for this but I accept that I could be wrong. Here an idea: You guys regularly do tutorial articles to inform people of something that they didn't know. Why not do a tutorial article on Google Map Maker. People in developed countries might not benefit from it but you guys do have an internetional audience. And thank you for including my suggestion in the article.

So what you're saying is you're still using allowing it to be mistakenly taken wrongly as originating from Google, for HITS! ....sounds like a very imature decision to say this flippantly make out like this is a Very Mature Image of Android Pissing on Apple's Logo then. Knowing people would come to the conclusion that Google did this on purpose and you know it's not true. Grow up Phone Arena Writers and maybe demonstrate some class yourselves! ;-P

In my own defence, my last comment actually highlighted that you have edited the last lines of the article since it was first posted. Secondly, this wasn't a landmark at all.

What happens is not too many ppl that comment spend the time to dig deeper, especially when it easier to just hate on a company, product you....hate. I honestly didnt know about Google Map Maker until your post. So thanks for enlightening us.

I'm really amazed to see that this is a tech site and the people visiting this website are the ones that are more enlightened about tech than most of their friends but no one pointed out that this is not the work of Google or any Google employee. Google provides a great option for the general public to edit the Google maps which is helpful for countries where Google can't pay much attention. You are even free to report such stupidity. Search for Google Map Maker.

Well clearly ECPirate37 neither did most of the people here and not knowing about it actually made it funny as everyone believed that this is a Google easter egg. And you are most welcome, glad I could help someone.

Looks some google employee replied for this: “I’m going to destroy Android, because it’s a stolen product. I’m willing to go thermonuclear war on this.” :)

Am i the only one who think these kind of mocking is immature(if it is real anyway)?. I don't care whether it is Microsoft, Google, Samsung, Apple or anyone else, i mean i rather they spend their time market their product in a right way and focusing on improving their product than this?

Actually this is the abuse of Google Map Maker. Google was actually trying to make their product better by providing this feature but there is always somone who'd abuse such freedom. On a sidenote, Nokia HERE maps doesn't even have the maps for Pakistan so really Google is at least trying I guess.

"Actually this is the abuse of Google Map Maker." This is the correct answer.
