Verizon sending out OTA upgrades for OS 6 to BlackBerry Curve 3G 9330 and BlackBerry Bold 9650
Looks like Verizon has a present to owners of the BlackBerry Curve 3G 9330 and the BlackBerry Bold 9650. If you head over to the wireless update option, you might find that your handset has been sent an OTA upgrade to the BlackBerry 6 OS. The exact software build for the Curve 3G 9330 is OS 6.0.0.431.

The BlackBerry 6 OS is a big leap forward for 'Berry users and brings with it the new WebKit browser which by itself is worth doing the upgrade for. And let's not forget the improved UI.

Let us know if you have received the upgrade and what your impressions of BlackBerry 6 OS are by commenting in the box below. Sure, the new OS has been out for a while, but not for the Curve 3G 9330 or Bold 9650. If you own either device, it might seem like you have just received a new phone.

I plugged my phone into the computer and it found the update. Try that and see if it works.

If you do it wireless, you have to do the 1006 update first. Don't ask me why you can't just go straight to 6. Once you do that one, go back to wireless update and it should show up. MUCH faster on the internet browser, testing mine out right now :) -

FINALLY! I mean I had the Sprint upgrade on my phone anyway but it's still nice to know that i have to update that was meant for my phone. Plus, it's a little newer than the Sprint one.

Yea, mine said 5.0.0.1006 update on the phone, but like you said... if you plug it into the computer, it shows the 6.0 update! :]

yeah i upgraded last night...it is a nicer os, but i wonder why rim waited until now to do the upgrade? It's almost like they don't want any defectores to the iphone and it was strictly selfish reasons....

I hated the update, I did it through the desktop manager. the phone works well but the icons in the All (the new home) screen every time you try to re-arrange them they get doubled and also once you leave that screen all your re-arrangements are gone. also every time you push the numbers to dial the phone gets in to a search mode. and last thing that I did not like is that we lost most of the old notifications that B.B. had in the past. now there is very few and limited number. I am going through the desktop manager now and having my phone re-set back to the old software and I hope it will work good.

Well I did the upgrade on my Bold and it seems okay, haven't used it enough to really give a complete review...wonder why did it took so long for RIM to come out with this update? One thing I noticed is the new homescreen layout DEcreases how much screen you see because the layout takes up more of the display. Yes, I noticed that before you could just start dialing whereas now, you have to press the alt key to do so. I haven't had the time to mess with it to see if I can correct this through settings.
