Verizon cancels the LG Watch Sport smartwatch

7comments

It looks like Verizon has no love for smartwatches unless they belong to its brand. The Big Red announced last month that it would delay the launch of the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier until June, but it did release its own Wear24 smartwatch last week.

Today, the carrier confirmed that another Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch it has added to its portfolio not long ago, the LG Watch Sport has been canceled.

LG hasn't yet confirmed Verizon's information, but the LTE-enabled version of the smartwatch was pulled from the carrier's website recently. Also, those who pre-ordered the LG Watch Sport receive cancellation emails from Verizon, even though the smartwatch was available for quite a while.

Verizon announced that it would offer customers $100 off other connected watches to make up for the cancellation of the LG Watch Sport.

However, those who must absolutely buy the LG Watch Sport can go ahead and get it via AT&T since Verizon will not be carrying it any longer.
