Verizon cancels the LG Watch Sport smartwatch

It looks like Verizon has no love for smartwatches unless they belong to its brand. The Big Red announced last month that it would delay the launch of the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier until June, but it did release its own Wear24 smartwatch last week.

Today, the carrier confirmed that another Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch it has added to its portfolio not long ago, the LG Watch Sport has been canceled.

LG hasn't yet confirmed Verizon's information, but the LTE-enabled version of the smartwatch was pulled from the carrier's website recently. Also, those who pre-ordered the LG Watch Sport receive cancellation emails from Verizon, even though the smartwatch was available for quite a while.

Verizon announced that it would offer customers $100 off other connected watches to make up for the cancellation of the LG Watch Sport.

However, those who must absolutely buy the LG Watch Sport can go ahead and get it via AT&T since Verizon will not be carrying it any longer.

Hmmm, because they cannot put their VZW logo on LG's watch?

Hell, it's almost time for the Gear S4 to be announced, and Verizon still hasn't released the Gear S3. They're trying to limit choices to their own branded crap. Verizon blows.

Would you actually pick it up from VZW? or would you actaully get it direct from the manufacturer? or an electronic retailer? or even purchase online? The point is, they don't need to carry the watch. It would be nice to have in store, but for the reps in store, even training on minimum Customer support is not worth it. It's not like they would make a huge profit from it either. I wish they would have carried so I could have played with the watch. But I shall have to go else where for that.

It doesn't matter where I pick it up, until Verizon support it, I can't use it on their network. It's not available anywhere else until they release it.

Sales are so low they don't want to waste money having devices branded with their logo just to collect dust in a warehouse. Truth be told smartwatches should just come unlocked.
