Verizon-bound Samsung Jasper with latest Snapdragon surfaces in benchmarks
May 3rd is right around the corner and while we are all waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S III to make its spectacular entry, another very interesting handset by Samsung surfaced. Codenamed Samsung Jasper, with a model number Samsung SCH-i200, the device packs both the latest Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 chip with processors clocked at 1.5GHz and a WVGA screen.

The whole package is said to be coming to Verizon Wireless and run on Android Ice Cream Sandwich. What’s interesting is that it’s the first time we see such combination of cutting-edge silicon and run-of-the-mill screen resolution. The Samsung Jasper could thus become an affordable handset with excellent power efficiency, and still supporting Verizon’s 4G LTE network.

Another evidence that leads us into thinking that this won’t end up to be formally placed among Samsung’s high-end crew is the model number, indicative of a heritage of low and mid-range devices on Verizon like the Samsung Gem and Samsung Illusion.

Check out the benchmarks of the handset that leaked out below and get ready for a very interesting couple of weeks when it comes to Samsung announcements.
