Verizon announces Dec. 2 availability of the Samsung Omnia II
We’ve been hearing recently that Verizon is to finally launch the Samsung Omnia II on December 2, but the information has been a far cry from being official. Now, we can pat our tipsters on the back for sharing this precious info with us back then, since Big Red has just announced the upcoming December 2 availability of the new Omnia. The Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphone will start with a price tag of $199.99 with a two-year contract and after a $100 mail-in rebate.

As you can see from the official image, the Samsung Omnia II will have a slightly different design, when compared to the European version, though we cannot say which one looks better. Fortunately, the eccentric red back will stay (as we showed you in our exclusive pictures from last week). However, the smarty will still pack a large 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED resistive touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, support for DivX and Xvid, as well as the widgetish TouchWiz 2.0 interface. Was the Omnia II worth the waiting? Feel free to post in the comments section below!
