Twitter for Android and iOS updated, new security and search features
The updates to Twitter continue to roll out and today’s update brings some interesting security changes and some neat changes to the search feature.

Available now in iTunes and Google Play, the updated Twitter app now incorporates an in-app approval system which will allow better control over logins via mobile phones. Users with one number and multiple Twitter accounts can opt-in all their handles to Twitter’s verification system.

Previously, the sole method of completing that task was via an SMS-based verification. Now, by going into the security settings, you can turn on “Log In verification.” Now, a back-up code is generated which is needed to approve requests when accessing your account. It effectively implements a two-step verification system that can be used across platforms.

Twitter also enhanced search features which will now include social context in the results, showing you how you are connected with other people. There is now a photo gallery in search as well. When searches returned photo images, you could swipe through thumbnails, but now you can request “view more photos” which returns a gallery view of images.

That feature is also available on the iOS app when viewing someone’s user profile. The iOS app also lets you manage lists within the app too.
