The upcoming Huawei Nexus phablet might integrate a Samsung-made AMOLED display

Allegedly, in an attempt to break these chains, Samsung Display has started sending AMOLED panel samples to Huawei, with shipment numbers expected to increase in the upcoming months.

Although various Chinese smartphone manufacturers such as Oppo and Vivo already integrate Samsung-made AMOLED panels, Huawei would be a much more important Samsung Display partner, and this for at least a couple of reasons. First, Huawei is now thought to be the fourth-largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, and the company's reach extends beyond its home market, with many Huawei smartphones being available in Western markets such as the EU and the United States. Second, there's reason to believe that, if this recent report turns out to be accurate, the rumored Huawei-made Nexus phablet will likely integrate an AMOLED panel manufactured by Samsung.

As all fans of vanilla Android probably know by now, Google is rumored to launch two Nexus smartphones this year, a Huawei-made phablet and an LG-made refresh of the 2013 Nexus 5. A couple of months ago, a rumor from China claimed that the upcoming Huawei Nexus will make use of a 5.7-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1440 by 2560 pixels. In the context of this recent report, it wouldn't be unthinkable for Huawei to integrate a Samsung-made AMOLED panel in its first Nexus device ever.

This train of thought is further entertained by the timing of this report. If the Huawei-made Nexus phablet is indeed a real device, then it's very likely for the handset to be launched later this year alongside the upcoming M version of Android, meaning that this would be the perfect time for Huawei to start mass-manufacturing the device. On the other hand, we shouldn't rule out the possibility of Huawei attempting to integrate Samsung's AMOLED panels in devices that come with Huawei's own branding.
