The LG Stylo 4 is cheaper than ever at Walmart, but there's a catch
LG’s mid-range devices rarely get the impressive US carrier backing the Stylo 4 currently boasts, as the pen-wielding phone’s GSM and CDMA-compatible unlocked variant has followed to market models designed specifically for T-Mobile, MetroPCS, Cricket Wireless, Boost Mobile, and Sprint.
One of those is now available for a new all-time low price of $129, although you’ll actually have to buy it from a third-party retailer instead of the prepaid operator you’ll need to activate the handset on.
We’re talking about Walmart and Boost Mobile, the latter of which has some experience with offering killer deals on LG smartphones in its own stores as well. The Boost-locked LG Stylo 4 is significantly costlier right now at the Sprint-hosted MVNO (mobile virtual network operator), as well as Best Buy.
The same obviously goes for unlocked models supporting every single US carrier you can think of, with recent promotions all done and Best Buy charging as much as $249.99 with upfront activation.
Bottom line, if you don’t mind Boost Mobile’s service and (affordable) plans, 129 bucks is an extremely low price to pay for the LG Stylo 4. The 6.2-incher is not what we’d call a powerhouse, with a middling Snapdragon 450 processor under the hood, but its 2160 x 1080 “FullVision” display is pretty sweet, sporting razor-thin bezels, at least by mid-range standards.
Meanwhile, the built-in stylus is naturally no match for Samsung’s S Pen in terms of productivity and convenience, nonetheless supporting neat features like Screen off Memo, GIF Capture editing, Capture+, QuickMemo+, Pen Pop 2.1, and Pop Memo.
The single 13MP rear-facing camera was also praised in our in-depth review for its excellent daytime performance, while the 3GB RAM and 32 gigs of internal storage should adequately cover your multitasking and digital hoarding needs.
