Sony releases video teaser for CES - hints an ultra-thin device, Lollipop, novel display and audio techs

CES 2015, the first major tradeshow for the next year, is just around the corner, as it will last from January 6 to January 9, and naturally, most of the large players will attend, showcasing their new products to the world. Among these is Sony, which usually has a prominent presence at the electronics show and unveils a handful of new products. Well, its brief teaser video for CES 2015 is now live, and as any other teaser, it gives us a few hints about the secret products Sony might have in store.

Most of the hints that have made the cut inside said video are a dead giveaway for Sony's "menu" for CES - a girl is licking a lollipop (Android 5.0 Lollipop probably ready to roll out for the Xperia Z line of flagships), the number 5 several appearing several time (after all, Sony's event will actually take place on January 5), not to mention the ultra-thin profile of an unknown device in the beginning of the teaser. Sony Xperia Z4, is that you?

Oh, and we have a slightly arched silhouette appearing in one of the frames (check it in the gallery right below). Additionally, it seems like Sony has a number of photography, audio, and display techs in the pipeline, as hints for such can be found throughout the whole teaser. Some of these are quite mysterious, but hey, their job is to tease us, right? CES can't come any closer.

Are you excited about what Sony's got in store? Share your thoughts below!

We don't need one but we want one and the answer is simple; nearly stock Lollipop with the usual enhancements like double tap to wake and smart backlight control and some nice apps like Walkman and Socialife.

I dont see why people dont like 6 month release cycles Its not like their Z3 will suddenly stop working when the Z4 is released

It won't stop working but the resale value will fall stupidly fast.

Although I agree with what you are saying it will also be lowered for you once you decide it's time to move on.

I almost never sell my old phones... I use the crap out of them... (still using an Xperia Acro S)

But resale value would fall stupid fast anyway since other Android OEMs are still constantly releasing If you want high resale value then get an iPhone

Stop the 6 month cycle, change your design(all their phones look alike i can't even tell them apart),make it available on all carriers,no delays, fix the camera issue, change the ui,keep up with the updates, advertise your phones and it might sell. This is why i hate the xperia line because of all these problems. if they make the changes i mentioned, then i might change my mind on how i look at their xperia series

haven't you heard them or read articles that they are not doing 6 months cycle anymore so they can cut off the expenses because they aren't actually having a profit on their 6 months strategy? :)

I think this will happen: Thin phone = Z4 5 + lollipop = Sony Lollipop 5.0 Audio waves = Walkman ZX2 or Z9 Headphone Camelion = Colour version of E-ink wearable Brilliance = some sort of low light video camera Dragon shadow = Playstation Morpheus Rainbow dots in the sky = Quantum dot Bravia TV with Android Close up of eye = Western debut of the curved sensor selfie camera (rectangle shadow reflection) But there will not be a new flagship mirrorless.

I'm with you, yes some other phones can be better than Z3 on something but if you looking for all rounded phone there's nothing better than the Z3.

Sony Xperia Z4 and a new UI with less Sony preloaded apps that'll be excellent. Other manufactures flat icons and system themes are amazing as far as looks in comparison to Sony'd UI.
