Sony introduces the Xperia L1: an elegant and affordable 5.5-inch smartphone16
Although L1's name may suggest ties with 2013's peculiar Xperia L, the new phone bears almost no resemblance to it, as it is decidedly more slender and more stylish in its presentation. The Xperia L1 features a classic Sony design – a flat top and bottom create ostensibly sharp edges when viewed from the front or back, which blend smoothly into the rounded sides of the device.
The front of the device is occupied by a 5.5-inch 720p display and a 5MP selfie camera, while its back houses a 13MP primary camera with autofocus and an LED flash.
Sony's new mid-range Xperia L1 is powered by a MediaTek 64-bit quad-core CPU clocked at 1.45GHz that is backed by a 2620 mAh battery, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage. The latter is expandable to up to 256GB via the micro SD card slot, which should satisfy the needs of even the biggest data hoarders out there.
The Xperia L1 will be available in in late April in select markets, including Europe, North America, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. It will be initially available in three colors: white, black, and pink. Pricing details are to follow, Sony promises the handset to be "affordably priced".
