Sony US presents the Xperia X series in new videos, release dates not yet announced
Sony this month launched the Xperia X series in a few European markets, and it's planning to bring it to many countries around the world, including the US. At the moment, the Xperia X family includes four smartphones - Xperia X Performance, Xperia X, Xperia XA, and Xperia XA Ultra - all of which are listed as coming soon over at Sony Mobile's official US website.

While Sony hasn't provided any US launch dates for its new smartphones, today it released promo videos showcasing all of them, minus the Xperia XA Ultra (which was announced last week, not in February like the other three handsets). The videos, embedded below, don't reveal anything that we didn't already know about the Xperia X, X Performance, and XA, but they probably indicate the fact that Sony is almost ready to start selling these three devices stateside.

At the moment, the European prices for Sony's new handsets (except for the XA Ultra) are as follows: Xperia X Performance - around €700, Xperia X - around €600, Xperia XA - €300. We assume that, in the US, Sony will ask about $700, $600, and $300, respectively, for the devices. But we'll see about that when official details are available. Until then, to check out the differences between the three smartphones, read our Xperia X, X Performance and XA hands-on from Mobile World Congress 2016.

Since no US carrier announced anything regarding the Xperia X family, it looks like Sony will sell the phones in the US only unlocked. Do you plan to purchase any of these handsets?

You'd have to be delusional to pay 700€ for the X Performance when the Axon 7 butchers this phone for 400€.

A ZTE phone? Lol

That's exactly my point against Chinese companies. Why the HECK would you get a Chinese brand, when you can get a Korean / Japanese / American / elsewhere branded phone (besides saving $$$)

Because some Chinese phones are actually better than the phones from Japanese/American/Korean/etc companies. From the early impressions I've seen, the Axon 7 seems like it can easily beat the Xperia X performance and is quite close with Samsung phones.

Yes, it may have as good specs / better specs... but bottom line - you are getting a ZTE. THat's the issue.

Thanks for sharing. This is why I love Sony's software. It's so smooth and clean, and even with the SD650 it outperforms the 10 with the SD820. Well done Sony! And the screen also looks better judging from the video. But I'm afraid that the Xperia-bashing continues even when they don't know anything about this phone or Xperia's in particular.

From isolated angles the Xperias look great, but when you take a step back and take in the entire image, they just look like a chunky rectangle.

Then you have to use their software and end up wanting to throw them out of the window.

Don't bother answering him. It's probably some fan fueled nonsense. And even if it isn't, it's none of his business :D.

how many times is sony going to release the same phone over and over. You need to do a redesign every now and then, this is 4 years in a row is a glass front and back and metal rimmed rectangle. same speaker ports and camera in the same location... same features. boring and over priced.

Actually, the back isn't glass, but rather aluminum. They finally changed it up a bit, but the bezels are still there smh

The back side is no longer glass, but aluminum. So they actually did redesign it. And I'm glad they haven't tried to redesign it too much. HTC redesigned the 10 and now it looks like a Samsung or Apple phone. Used to look unique & awesome, now it just looks generic. At least they improved the camera though. lol What are they supposed to do with the speakers? Be lame and put them at the bottom like Samdumb? I have the S7 now and its lone speaker sucks. I mean it's seriously awful. And camera location? Seems to me all phones have their cameras in the same spot, so I don't get what you mean there. I think physical home buttons are boring and lame. Don't get why phones still use such an antiquated feature when now we have virtual home buttons.
