Samsung's new ads take aim at Apple's accessories and Genius Bar

Samsung has a long history of throwing shade at Apple and its fans. This dates all the way back to 2011 when Sammy produced an ad showing Apple fans waiting on line to buy the iPhone 4s. Suddenly, a Samsung Galaxy S II owner happens nearby and all of a sudden, that phone is getting all the attention except for one laid back guy who says, "I could never get a Samsung. I'm too creative." His pal comes up with a great put down line. "Dude, You're a barista." Samsung milked that line, giving away t-shirts with the comment plastered in front. It still remains a great ad, and you can watch it by clicking on the video at the top of this article.

Fast forward seven years, and while the iPhone still is the iPhone, Samsung has taken the success of the Galaxy S series and parlayed it into the top global market share among smartphone manufacturers. So yeah, the rivalry continues.

Samsung has released four commercials that make fun of iPhone accessories and the Genius Bar. The commercials also make it clear that in the opinion of Samsung, the Galaxy S9 is really the phone that these consumers should be buying. In the ads, a Genius Bar employee advocates the use of "double dongles," and suggests the purchase of a used PC and adapter to support fast charging on the iPhone X. Another ad suggests that Genius Bar employees give answers colored by their loyalty to the brand. Actually, all four ads hint at that.

Check out all the commercials, which we've embedded directly below.

Low brow humor. I'm so thankful that as a Android user I can avoid supporting an OEM swinging at competition over petty s**t. Apple should fire back an add at Sammy, I'm pretty sure they can find lots of issues too. I kind of despise both OEM for thinking there's nothing better than their own wares. Something, something, throw stones something something glass phones.

Did samsung phones really randomly send out pictures from people’s phones to random contacts? That would be a sweet commercial too.

iPhones had a similar issue where randoms pics were showing up in your camera roll. Not funny if it's a level playing field.

Haven't heard about that and can't find anything iPhone related from google. I can find subject how people using many different phones have got random photos to their camera roll and there can be many reasons. Whatsapp (automaticly saves other people photos), accidentally take photo, saving photo from web etc.

Hahah these ads touched the Apple boys the wrong way and they all out in force in damage control.

last video's funny, but amiss: No one (modern woman or other geek) ever goes to Apple store or any other device manufacture shop to ask about download speeds. smh

Nope, they are just asking how to fix (or operate) their phone...

Since Apple ditch Samsung Super Amoled to LG OLED Samsung went nuts 110$ Aren’t an easy money per screen.

Apple didn't ditch Samsung, they just took LG as a second supplier to be less dependent on Samsung and to be able to bargain for lower prices. But they haven't ditched Samsung.

Those ads are pretty lame and not at all funny. They had some jab ads that were funny, but these ain't.

Yeah, attacking a rival shows weakness. Also the ads are unrealistic in 2018, it's not a MP/Features/Speed war anymore like in 2010/11. Most people are fully aware of iOS and Android, maybe not by name but they would have enough knowledge to know Apple runs it's own software. People who prefer Apple's system buy iPhones and people who prefer Android or whatever skin Oem they are used to buy that. I highly doubt anyone goes into an Apple store asking for charging speed specifics. If they cared and knew that much about tech, and that feature was a must for them, they would have already researched phones with such. It's actually kind of sad, they are funny, but instead of showing all the fun and amazing times you can have with a Samsung, they show a competely clueless dude can't comprehened an adapter? Is that what Samsung thinks it's fans are?

I know Apple did this too (remember those PC vs Mac ads?) Pepsi and Coke did this a long long time (do they still do this?) Those were ridiculous at times. I am glad most of these ads that jab at the competition aren't allowed in my country. I can't imagine someone would go to an Apple store and ask these questions. And I think they wish Apple users were like that. Although most users of smartphones are pretty lacking in the tech department.

"People who prefer Apple's system buy iPhones and people who prefer Android or whatever skin Oem they are used to buy that" And millions of switchers on both sides of the fence. At the end of the day, no one watches commercials anymore so the only time they are seen is in tech blogs and that's a minuscule user base who has largely made up their minds already on the ecosystem they want to be in. No one cares.

It’s not obsession, it’s loyalty which apple well deserves for providing the best user experience out there, ask a regular iOS user if they care about apple and are thinking about apple 24/7 just like Samsung sick trolls, they don’t care, they just use iOS devices because they are fine with the user experience and they don’t feel the need to change, sadly that doesn’t happen with android brands, Samsung is so envious cause it can’t achieve this and its fans are butthurt about it too and they live 24/7 thinking about apple even more than its users, it’s tragic and pathetic, don’t you think sis?

"they just use iOS devices because they are fine with the user experience and they don’t feel the need to change, sadly that doesn’t happen with android brands" While I agree with the rest of your comment. This part is pretty untrue. Sure there are switchers between OSes and brands. But most Samsung users I know feel what you claim doesn't happen.

Most of the Samsung users (fans) I know don’t buy iOS devices and hate Apple but they have never had an Apple device, they claim ridiculous things like: Apple is for snobs, Apple is too expensive, and all those status symbol arguments they say all the time which are pointless. Then they got the guts to call iOS users ignorants.

21. RebelwithoutaClue unregistered

Could be country related then. If I look at my friends and coworkers that use Samsung. They don't care about Apple, they just want a phone that they already know. But you are right, a lot of Samsung users are way too occupied with Apple and it's users. Especially on the internet. And I for one dislike ignorant fanboys in both camps. There are Apple snobs and some consider it a status symbol. But the same goes for Samsung, plenty of snobs there too.
