Samsung Gear VR will be launched in December in the US for $199
Announced back in September, Samsung’s Gear VR virtual reality headset (developed in collaboration with Oculus) will be available to buy starting early next month in the US, with other markets possibly following soon after.

The device that will go on sale in the US is actually called “Gear VR Innovator’s Edition,” and isn’t really made for regular customers. Instead, it’s more aimed at “developers and enthusiasts”, coming with an Oculus Mobile SDK that provides “everything they need to build and experiment with the platform before the hardware and software are ready for consumers.” Various apps specifically designed for the VR will be released in the coming months.

The Gear VR Innovator’s Edition will cost $199, or $249 if you want it bundled with a Bluetooth gamepad.

As you may know, the Gear VR doesn’t work as a standalone device, and needs to be coupled with a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 handset. To learn more about Samsung’s first virtual reality headset, you can check out our Gear VR hands-on.

I've got Google Cardboard, which is a very cheap version of this (costs me $3), but its still very cool The Oculus Rift is gonna be amazing, but we need GPUs to catch up so we can have native 90-120 fps 4K Hopefully Oculus get their time warping working well so we don't need as high framerates as much

the ps4 will have Mobius its own virtual reality headset. and an oculus rift on PC would blow them both away

Sony VR will be > Oculus and this crappy SS VR. No one knows gaming now like Sony.

The PS4 is too underpowered It plays many games at only 30 fps 1080p or 900p For VR are you need 90-120 fps Unless Sony use interpolation to upscale, but then you get the soap opera effect So the Sony are going to be very limited by the PS4 Oculus have been the VR leaders for the past few years And now have Facebook bank rolling them, while Sony are quite limited financially right now

VR will be won on applications and software, not tech demos and specifications. It's still anyone's game.

It playes only 30fps at 1080p or 900p when you're talking about studios that have bulls**t optimization or don't care about that. There are games at 1080p 60fps and the Uncharted 4 real time trailer is a damn good example at what other studios are NOT doing.

but I doubt many studios will start caring unless morpheus becomes a very widespread thing as most people are already content with 30fps @ 1080p. But hey heres hoping they do

But 1080p 60 fps is still terrible for VR You want 90-120 fps for VR And also higher resolutions as well

200$ for a plastic frame and lenses that doesn't actually have a display? They're stretching it a bit just because it's new tech.
