Samsung CEO confirms Galaxy S8 sales are 15% higher than Galaxy S7's

Reports that Galaxy S8 sales are well behind of those for the Galaxy S7 since launch surfaced last week, even though Samsung hasn't released any official numbers. In fact, this was one of the reasons analysts claimed Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy Note 8 earlier than usual.

However, Samsung's CEO DJ Koh refuted these reports at a press conference held in Taipei recently. Besides confirming the late August reveal of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, he said that sales of the Galaxy S8 smartphones are well above those of the Galaxy S7 devices.

According to DJ Koh, cumulative sales of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are 15% higher than their predecessors' compared to the same period last year. He went on to say that his company expects sales of the Galaxy S8 devices to continue to rise in the next two quarters of 2017.

Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Note 8 on August 23, but the phablet won't be available on the market until one month later. Samsung plans a two-phase market launch for Galaxy Note 8, so the first wave of countries to get the smartphone are South Korea, UK and United States.

The second wave of countries won't be getting the Galaxy Note 8 until October, which means Samsung fans will continue to be interested in the Galaxy S8 and S8+ for at least two more months from now.

Nahhh, I'll take the word of that unnamed "analysts", whome even by your own words "claimed" that the S8 is struggling to sell and that the Note 8 was coming few weeks earlier than before.

So much for iCryiPhonearena's claims of S8 slowing sales. Hahahahaha

You can even tell by the tone of the article how disappointed they are to have to report any good news regarding Samsung. More than half the article just talks about the Note 8 instead of waxing lyrical about how amazing the sales are like they would have done if this was an Apple product doing well.

They don't try to hide their bias anymore, check the Note 7's unboxing video and you'll see how biased the reviewer is against Samsung.

What did you expect the ceo to say? Knowing that the note 8 will soon be released, That their sales are slowing down? Lmao. I doubt that the samsung ceo knows anything about sales tbh. Ever wondered why these good sales news are only coming from samsung related affiliates without any facts to back those up? And every other media outlet is reporting someting different? The truth shall be revealed very soon.

"I doubt that the samsung ceo knows anything about sales tbh." So the CEO doesn't know anything about sales, yet a lifeless trolls has the guts to claim he knows not only about sales figures, but also what will the next iPhone, Note, and Pixel phones will offer? Go back to your barn, enjoy a little chat with the flock of sheep you usually hang out with, this isn't your day with such news.

Oh its fun to draw parallels. Open Media bias uses unnamed sources to confirm the story they want to report. CEO of the company states the facts and some people still believe the unnamed sources. Hilarious to see a microcosm of whats going on in the rest of the media.

You win post of the day lol. Loved it.

You beat me to this post. By the way, the CEO knows exactly how many devices he's shipped (aka sold to wholesalers), and he has way more knowledge than the analysts who had absolutely no data. However, your secret sources may know better. Pretty soon, the conspiracy theorists will come to comment about how the CEO is lying. Before they get here, I just want to point out that it is illegal for any official to misrepresent data either publicly or privately in a way that can influence stock price. The Securities and Exchange Commission (or each country's equilavent) would fine the company who does that. Secondly, each major millionaire/billionaire shareholder would sue the heck out of the company, particularly if it is part of a conglemerate taking in hundreds of billions year.

Bankz...STOP IT. This news is coming from Samsung related affiliates because they are the people closest to the matter. If sales were not good, the CEO wouldn't be saying anything on the matter. Please stop acting like a certain "no mercy" idiot troll around here that swears that he knows more than CEO's and people closest to the matter, without any link backing up his words. I understand that you don't like Samsung, but dam, get ahold of yourself. Your incessant trolling of Samsung is ridiculous now.

"I doubt that the samsung ceo knows anything about sales tbh." You just lost all credibility with that statement. You run a company & you don't know anything about your best seller's sales? That makes perfect sense.

He had credibility to lose? Really?

Stop being foolish. A CEO can't just announce specific sales data if it isn't true, he can get into big legal trouble for manipulating the stock market. He could say it's doing well, or it's meeting our expectations, or something similarly non specific. It doesn't matter what the truth reveals, you'll still cling to your own version of it, and claim any other is a lie. Very Trumpian.

Dude. The PR team would be bat crap itarded to allow the CEO to outright lie in public. Yes the PR department screens these types of statements before their employees talk to the media. You know what kind of backlash they could get if it ever gets out that they lied? lol

I don't think the Samsung new CEO would discredit himself this early in the game. Besides, this figure would eventually be made public during their share holder boardroom meeting.

I wouldn't exactly say it's struggling. 9.8 million units sold in first 60 days is hardly something to cry about that's still more than what LG and HTC flagships can do in a full year (and this is coming from someone who buys LG phones). Although, that number is below the S7 which had sold 12 million in the same time frame (60 days) as was reported last week.

Nobody really doubted this

9. AxelFoley unregistered

You're exactly right. A nobody really doubted it. 20. Bankz (Posts: 1921; Member since: 08 Apr 2016) No, it only means that people didn't like the gs8 as much as people thought or as much as other years. But whats more shocking is this has happened inspite of all the BOGO deals available in the US. This is a new low for samsung tbh.

So much for the trolls that said that sales of the Galaxy S8/S8+ aren't good and are less than the S7/S7Edge. Congrats to you, Samsung. You released a pair of great Smartphones.
