Sailfish OS major update brings emoji keyboard, unlock with fingerprint option
Sailfish, the OS that you must purchase in order to be able to use it on your smartphone, has just received a major update that adds quite a lot of new features. If you own a Sony Xperia X smartphone and purchased a Sailfish OS license, you are now eligible for the latest Sailfish OS 2.2.0 update.

The highlights of this release are the gallery and camera app changes, as well as the new emoji keyboard and support for VPN and MDM. The folks at Jolla have even given the update a name of its own to highlight its importance – Mouhijoki.

In order to access the new emoji keyboard built into the OS, you should activate it first by going to the Settings app / Text input / Keyboard, and select “Emoji Beta.”

Some Sailfish X exclusive features have been implemented too, such as support for the dual-SIM version of Sony Xperia X, and the option to unlock the smartphone with a fingerprint.

Lots of bugs have been fixed as well, including the ones on the stop timer, message notification, phone call, camera focus and many more. The update weighs in at 400MB and will soon be available for download from Jolla's official store.

I do hope we could have a third OS. Duopoly is never good.

I loved the first iteration of the sailfish UI. Now it's just being like android

Not sure what you mean. The UI is different than Android. Jolla just did usability testing and improved upon the rough edged of the OS.

just bring it to more devices, for other people to know about it. We need more competition in mobile OS.
