Support for iOS 13 could start with the Apple iPhone 7/7 Plus
As iOS gets updated and more complex every year, older Apple iPhone models considered incompatible with the new iOS build are are doomed to be forever frozen with the current version running the phone. For example, iOS 12 is available with limited support on the Apple iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPod Touch (6th generation), iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 4, iPad Air and iPad Air 2. Full iOS 12 support is available for the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, the iPad (2017) and all iPad Pro models.

According to a report out of Israel's The Verifier (via Redmond Pie), it appears that all iOS devices released before 2016 will not receive iOS 13 when it is disseminated later this year. We should see the new iOS version introduced during WWDC, expected to take place in June.

If the report is correct, the iPhone 5s, iPhone SE, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, and iPhone 6s Plus will not receive iOS 13. That means that the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and up will support the update. Turning to the iPad, the report says that the iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 4, iPad Air and iPad Air 2 will not be updated.

Before you start tossing your pre-2016 iOS devices, the source of the report has updated it and says that iOS 13 support for the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE and iPhone mini 4 is now "questionable." We should know officially which models will support iOS 13 and its rumored system-wide Dark Mode at WWDC. And the way time flies lately, the conference will be here before you know it.
