"Panda" Pixel 2 XL starts shipping; some pre-orders are still delayed

The Black and White version of the Google Pixel 2 XL, known as the "Panda" Pixel 2 XL for obvious reasons, started shipping late last week. The Just Black version of the phone was delivered first, and that was the only color of the Pixel 2 XL to arrive at buyers' homes until now. While those who pre-ordered a Panda Pixel 2 XL and shelled out for overnight shipping might have already received the handset, those who pre-ordered early with standard shipping should probably have a tracking number, and could receive their device as soon as tomorrow.

That's good news for Panda lovers, and we are talking about the phone, not the animal. But some pre-orders that should have been run through purchasers' credit cards have yet to be swiped or chipped. And that includes some pre-orders for the Just Black Pixel 2 XL.

Google seems a bit unsure about what is going on here, having told at least one customer that all Pixel 2 XL pre-orders have been delayed. That is an incorrect answer, of course, as those already sporting their Pixel 2 XL will tell you. And during the coming week, those who were among the first to order the Panda Pixel 2 XL (using standard shipping) should be receiving their phones.

Unknown is why there are still some delays on certain pre-orders that should have already been shipped. The consumers involved in these purchases have yet to have had their credit card charged, which means that they most likely will not be receiving their phones in the next few days. Only Google knows why this is happening, and hopefully they will soon shed some light on this matter.
