OxygenOS & CyanogenMod12S will bring Android Lollipop to the OnePlus One in late March

Remember that we expected OnePlus to officially unveil it home-baked Lollipop-based OxygenOS on Feburary 12? It did not happen. Instead, the start-up just introduced the development team behind the ROM and revealed zero to nothing about its alternative to CyanogenMod in particular. Alas, OnePlus One owners were not treated to additional information about the ROM in ever since. We heard nothing about the arrival of CyanogenMod 12S, too.

Fortunately though, the co-founder of OnePlus, revealed that both OxygenOS and CyanogenMod 12S will bring the Android 5.0 Lollipop goodness to the masses sometime next month. However, don't keep your hopes up for an early release - the ETA is scheduled for "mid to late March", as Pei puts it.

He also revealed that while alpha nightly builds for both OS builds already exist, additional honing of their stability is what's taking OnePlus so long and making it miss the 90-day update window.

And it will be plugged with bugs like every other custom ROMs. Used enough ROMs, kernels to know how it generally ends up.

I don't know, I heavily used CM11 for months, and I had virtually no bugs.

First they waited months to get the phone. Now they're waiting for months to get lollipop.

Two Androids for one phone. The ultimate in "Android fragmentation".

Wow, quite the hate for OnePlus on here... I got mine back in August (was happily using my SafeStrapped SGS4 Active at the time) and love it. Lollipop ROM's have been available for a few months now for the OPO, personally I run a tweaked version of the stock ROM (Calkulin's version) and haven't had a single issue with it. My cousin has his on the stock CM11S, not rooted or anything and he too hasn't had any issue's. I love my OPO, hater's gonna hate...

I got mine back in November, and I regret it now. Great hardware but the OS has been extremely buggy. No one big thing, but so many little annoying bugs that it's been death by a thousand tiny cuts. They've totally ruined the experience.

Sucks, maybe try Calkulin's ROM? I've had nothing but an awesom experience on it... I'm on v2.1 currently, but plan on updating to 2.5 in the next day or so. Maybe you've got some bad apps causing issue's or just bad luck...

Had mine since August if I recall correctly. I have had the best mobile experience I've ever had with a phone. Sorry you haven't had the same luck. I'm actually going to buy a second one plus one on a Tuesdays so I don't need an invite.

I love my OnePlus, but the fact that CM12S is not on my phone yet is pathetic. Was promised 5.0 Lollipop within 90 days of it being released. It will be far more than 90 days. OnePlus could at least apologize for this error.
