OnePlus will be first with a Snapdragon 855 phone, first in Europe with a 5G phone
As seen on the OnePlus Twitter page, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau spoke today during Qualcomm's Tech Summit in Hawaii and passed along some interesting information. OnePlus' 2019 flagship phone will be the first handset to be powered by the Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform. It isn't a big deal that the OnePlus 7, or whatever the company names its next flagship, will carry Qualcomm's next top-of-the-line mobile chipset. What is a surprise is that OnePlus will be first to sell a phone powered by the chip.

And the executive also says that a OnePlus handset will also be the first smartphone in Europe to support 5G connectivity via U.K. carrier EE. Last month, there was speculation that the company will release a phone with a new design and name to be its first 5G model. That's because with the added 5G technology, this phone would have to be more costly than the usual OnePlus phones, which are known for their reasonable pricing considering their spec sheets. Back in October. OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei spoke at a Qualcomm event and said that it had completed a successful 5G test in August.

Being the manufacturer of the first phone to carry the Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform next year, and the first smartphone in Europe to support 5G connectivity in 2019 should certainly help OnePlus raise its profile both in the U.S. and in Europe. And that should help the company boost sales of its smartphones in 2019.

Not either samsung nor one plus innovate. It's apple, they will invent 5G on 2020. Remember their greatest invention? Liquid retina display and super retina display. Lmao

PA, when was the last time you reported things properly? OnePlus will be the first to release a 5G phone in 2019 but it won't be OnePlus 7. It will be another lineup likely or a lone warrior with higher than normal prices and higher specs and features than normal OnePlus phones get.

Assuming S10 will get released in early March, OP will need to release this phone in February, and OP6T is like 3 months old by then. Looks like they just rush it to become the "First" 5G phone available on market. I think it will be OP6T with SD855, with some price hike like other said. Then they'll release OP7 3 months after that.

It won't be the op7. They said the 5g phone will be separated from the current line which will continue.

This is EE we are talking about. Expect the contract to be over £100 a month easily. They are a complete Rip off.

In case if Oneplus launches a none 5G phone with 855 SOC then Samsung will surely not sale as much S10/10+ as they expect. As most of the people can get the same SOC at 1/2 the cost. Camera from Oneplus is really good even though not as good as Samsung S-series but this would surely change the mobile sales equation.
