OnePlus One owners remain Oxygen deprived as another delay takes hold
On the day before OnePlus was supposed to start rolling out the home grown Oxygen OS for the OnePlus One, a post on Reddit revealed that the company will not be releasing the software on Friday as planned. OnePlus One users originally were being given the opportunity to decide between Oxygen OS and the updated CyanogenMod 12S. Both operating systems are based on Android 5.0.

While OnePlus says that both Oxygen OS and Cyanogen Mod 12S are ready to go, both operating systems need to complete the certification process. Cyanogen was going to be available to OnePlus One users on Monday and it has been officially delayed as well.

OnePlus was already developing its own OS when it was disclosed that Cyanogen had signed a deal to provide its software in India exclusively to Indian phone manufacturer Micromax. As a result, the OnePlus One was temporarily banned in the country. Eventually, the court reversed the ban which allowed OnePlus to offer its handset in India once again.

As for the Oxygen OS and CM12S releases, there is no word on when OnePlus will try one more time to push them out to OnePlus One owners.

Mine is already updated to Lollipop (Sprint). Blame your carrier and not Samsung on this one.

lol dam I'm pretty sure you don't want a rush os and later be complaining about beside...While it may seem that they should be the same software they are not as T-Mobile has a lot of features on their network that others don't have or only have 1 but not all together like GoGo, Wi-Fi calling, VoLTE and etc.

Simple, wanted to get fast and latest update for your Android? Simple, get a Nexus and that it. Windows Phone? Get the Nokia or Microsoft Lumias series.

Another let down from the OPO hype machine. OPO should rebrand as a hype company, why even make devices when you can make empty promises?

One thing that I have always said that Apple got right was the software updates, in the fact that they bypass the carriers and make their updates readily available to all iOS users themselves. Google does this, albeit only with their Nexus line. BlackBerry does this also, but only if your handset is purchased unlocked straight from shop.blackberry.com and Amazon.com. Microsoft does this with their Lumia line, in the sense that they always get the updates, and they always get them first. However, I wish all OEM's were able to make updates available to all handsets in their roster the "Apple" way by totally bypassing the carriers.

Tell that to my friend with a nexus 6 on US cellular. He's still on 5.0.1

That's strange. Is U.S. Cellular GSM or CDMA? If GSM, ask him to turn off his handset, remove his sim card, and power it back on and connect to Wi-Fi and check for the update. If it's CDMA, ask him to turn off his data connection via settings, and connect to Wi-Fi and check for the update.

CDMA, I've walked him through that as well as wiping the Android framework data and cache. 5.0.1 is the newest OTA for US cellular nexus 6, regardless of what google has released.
