Nokia X notched invitation confirms May 16 reveal

Nokia X notched invitation confirms May 16 reveal
HMD Global is gearing up for the unveiling of one of its most controversial smartphones, the Nokia X. Although the handset was recently showcased in China, Nokia X hasn't been officially introduced yet, and that might not happen until mid-May.

The Finnish company is holding a 5-day event in Beijing, China, where it has all of its smartphones and feature phones showcased. However, aside from the devices that have already been launched on the market, HMD Global is displaying one that wasn't even announced yet, the Nokia X.

In fact, many billboards positioned near the location of the event advertise the upcoming Nokia X, even though it will not be announced for at least another two weeks from now. Although the Nokia X is showcased at the exhibition, no information about the phone's specs is displayed. Also, the device seems to be locked so that no one can peek at its hardware specifications.

According to an official invitation coming from HMD Global, the Nokia X will be revealed on May 16, which coincides with the European unveiling of the OnePlus 6. Despite the fact that the invite doesn't mention the Nokia X name, the fact that it is shaped in the form of a smartphone with a notched display suggests that this is the device HMD Global plans to announce next month.

To be expected. Not all of us are into ugly designs just because our favorite OEM of choice has decided to embrace the whole concept of...ugly.

IKR? I mean, why a notch AND a chin? Go full zero bezel or compromise with a chin or compromise with a notch...but both?

the chin is because of the under screen fp sensor just raise the cam and ear/speaker to the top line and put speaker at the bottom line and you have the best phone in the world

HMD has been on a roll with its Nokia branded smartphones, and I have been loving. Looking forward to seeing what the Nokia X brings to the table, notch and all.

LG G7, Huawei Honor10, P20, P20 Pro, OPPO A3, F7, F15, Asus Zenfone 5. many others and now Nokia X - all these devices look like being designed and manufactured by the same company. Most of them just another 6 incher with notch. Companies don't make anything interesting - they just think that iPhone X ripoff if a save bet and just keep flooding market with similar looking devices.

X rippoff? The X was not the first phone with a notch.

we don't hate the notch, just do not understand when a 18:9 screen needs to eliminate the notch in order to watch a proper 16:9 movie.

You are sure that Nokia has returned to Finland or to China! This is not Nokia's Finnish thinking

Not sure if true or not, but this was on nokiamob: “Friends, do not be so categorical. Our subscriber communicates with the guys from HMD (Russia) and he told us the following.HMD also were against the notch, they fought to the last. However, they were forced, in particular by the Chinese division and by Russian retailers, which require a notch.”
