Nokia Maps 3.08 update brings a nifty Weather plugin plus other improvements
The 3.08 update to Nokia Maps was pretty significant as it ushered Symbian^3 handset users in the era of the Belle/MeeGo interface. Now the update itself has been updated with a refined UI, and, most importantly, a nice little weather plugin in the form of a separate app.

The plugin shows an hourly or 5-day forecast for your current location, and all the usual things a weather app should do like swapping from Celsius to Fahrenheit and back.

Other improvements include live traffic routing directly from the Drive section start screen, toggle between time of arrival, travel time and distance to go directly from the map screen, quick access to the Drive To or Walk To sections upon long-tap on the screen, and a new installer UI, which guides you what is being installed at the moment.

With the new update, Nokia Maps is becoming an even better free offline navigation software, and it will be a great addition to the Windows Phone handsets when it lands there next year.

That is one advantage that Nokia WP7 will have... WAIT a second, the incompetant Mr. Elop has given away Nokia maps to other manufacturers of WP7 as well like Samsung, HTC, LG etc... Nokia Maps was one huge opportunity for Nokia to be different from the competition with WP7 and Nokia just gave it away, for free ! Amazing Mr Elop. Seriously had Nokia kept Nokia maps for themselves, they would have had a big advantage over Samsungs WP7 phones.

It was the free google maps/navigation that made me switch to Android from the iPhone. Free Nokia Maps with offline navigation seals the deal for my next switch to WP7 (International offline maps/navigation FTW)

Why do Nokia UI Team insist on using the same font from 1997? In my opinion, the UI is ugly.

Nokia already said they're changing the font and bringing a new one called Pure font. By the way you can get it from the ovi store.
