New SD memory card spec brings mobile storage to a new level
A new SD memory card specification called SDXC (Secure Digital eXtended Capacity), was announced at CES. It promises up to 2-terabytes of storage on a single card and reading/writing speeds of up to 104 MB /s. If that is slow for you, keep in mind there are plans for increasing it to 300 MB/s. 2TB is quite a lot of storage space and you can fit up to 100 HD movies or 17 000 high-quality photos on a single card. We are looking forward to getting our hands on such memory card, but it will probably take a few years, to get to that point.
