Motorola Moto G Google Play edition now available

The price is listed at $179 and $199 respectively, and the Moto G GPe will run over the 3G networks belonging to AT&T and T-Mobile. This is essentially the GSM version of the phone with a stock Android build of Android 4.4.

Besides having stock Android, the Google Play edition of the Moto G will receive updates faster than unlocked and carrier branded versions of the phone. Considering that Motorola has stuffed some useful tools into the device, you might want to weigh the pros and cons of buying the phone with stock Android.

It seems that Google has a plan here that includes offering a Google Play edition of major Android releases in the U.S., regardless of the price range of the phone. The bottom line is that it gives the Mountain View based tech giant more control over the speed of updates on Android devices.
