Motorola DROID to get animated wallpaper with Android 2.1 update
When it first became known that the Motorola DROID was going to get updated to Android 2.1, there was a bit of disappointment amongst DROID owners because the update was not going to include the living, animated wallpaper that has become a trademark of sorts for the HTC Nexus One. The original excuse was that the DROID's processor was not as powerful as the 1GHz Snapdragon chip on the N-One.It was also feared that battery life would drop noticeably. According to My DROID World, a newer version of the 2.1 OS has been built (ESE53) that includes things like the animated lines and Google Maps 4.0 featuring Google Buzz. The 3D app launcher is not included, but if the moving lines can be added, perhaps we will see this included in the final version of the update as well. This could be the reason for the delay DROID owners have endured ever since Motorola failed to send out the firmware upgrade a few weeks ago as promised. If that is the case, it is probably well worth the wait.
