LG's intriguing V10 smartphone (with two displays) shows up in a new photo
Remember the unannounced LG V10 that showed up earlier this month? Thanks to @evleaks, we can now see the handset in a new photo which seems to confirm the fact that it's got two screens: a regular one, and a ticker display above it, which shows shortcuts to various apps (Instagram, contacts, camera, etc). Most likely, this secondary display is touch-sensitive, though for now we can't confirm this.

On the left side of the ticker display, we can see what appear to be two front-facing cameras. Overall, the LG V10 looks intriguing.

The main screen of the new handset is supposed to be a 5.7-inch one with 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD). The V10 should also feature a six-core Snapdragon 808 processor, 3 GB of RAM, 64 GB of expandable storage space, and a 16 MP rear camera with laser auto focus. Like all other recently released LG handsets, the V10 has its power and volume buttons on the back.

The LG V10 could be announced next week, on October 1, during an event held in New York City. Who's looking forward to finding out more about it?

This should have been the G4.

Agree... good to see manufacturers experimenting this year!

they have to experiment... there is nothing left now to one up... 4gb Ram already achieved, QhD done, cameras already reached 21mp, 64bit Socs done. Where they can go beyond this? above qhd is useless, above 21mp is useless. Even chinese phones are coming with all of these... Nothing left for big guys now except to come up with new ideas... competition always push the envelop

Cameras have reached 41mp. See the Nokia 808 pureview and the Lumia 1020. Hopefully, more and more manufacturers push the envelope of innovation. The consumer will benefit from it in the end.

41mp of nokia is a different technology, you know it and still quoting it? Full resolution 41mp picture is useless. 41mp sensor is there to combine many pixels together to produce excellent photo. Pureview mode only provides 2mp, 5mp and maximum 8mp photos. Thats an ingenious software tech developed by Nokia. I dont know and doubt if microsoft have done any improvement in this tech. Samsung and LG should come up with their pureview equivelant

Remember late last month or earlier this month that Sammy is gonna make a 6GB Ram?

This might be a good thing. When SOC advancements have reached the top manufacturers will have to concentrate more battery life and extra storage.

From the looks of it and them bezels you'd think this was the G4.

An lg made moto x pure edition (style) rival maybe? Almost the same specs but different cameras, one with 21mp without ois vs 16mp with maybe an ois?

Doesn't look much useful. For Android phone we can always design home screen with app shortcuts using widgets, folders etc. A separate display section at the top is just distracting and looks forced. Seems like a desperate attempt to put something like the edge screen of Note edge, S6 edge/+ etc.

What a boring looking phone. But that seems to be typical for LG they just have no sense of style. Only the leather backed G4 looked nice.

Another boring phone from LG well done! This will sell in the 200-300k per quarter range, just like all the other crap they produce. Cheap plastic looking phones for high prices, a bad combination.

They will price it above G4. Specs all look on par with G4, plus extra screen size and additional ticker display. There is now way they are going to price it lower. If they do so it would be a mockery on the face of G4 customers. The fact is they are struggling to come up with a proper phablet to compete with Note series of Samsung. But is running out of ideas. I believe Note 5/S6 edge+/iPhone 6S plus together seals the premium phablet market. Moto X pure/style excites the budget friendly phablet lovers. LG has to do something more than ordinary to capture the interest of phablet lovers.

I will wait to see the Sony Z5 Premium or Ultra before I decide on an Android phablet.

I don't think LG phones look boring at all. I've had metal/glass phones and plastic phones. I really don't think there's that much of a difference. People like to pretend they're snobs. Polymer phones have their benefits. LG phones have very small bezels and a nice shape to them. They are square instead of rectangular and I think that's a much better look. The buttons on the back are the best button design in the business. If you haven't owned an LG you can't really criticize with anything other than guesses. Droid DNA-LG G2-S6-Note 5

The fact is metal/glass phones look & feel premium and justify a higher price at launch. Remember galaxy S5, which was better on all counts, but shattered the popular demand for premium build and marked the struggle of Samsung. The point is no Android phone maker is making any decent profit by selling polycarbonate phones. How do one sense the feel of premium - just keep a S6 edge+, iphone 6 and G4 side by side. Doesn't need much effort to sense it.

They do look and feel premium, but the G3/G4 doesn't feel that much different and is a lot lighter and less slippery. The S5 was an ugly, ugly phone. The band-aid back cover the thick, cheap looking chrome bezel you saw looking straight on. The bloat ware, the annoying back cover and charging port pop ups. I'm just saying it had a lot of bad things about it other than the build. I work with the Note 3, S4, S5 at work everyday. The S4 is a better feeling phone than the S5 by far and it's plastic too. To me it doesn't matter that much. And I usually don't put my phone in a case. Function over form as long as form is ok. And, to me, LG phones are ok.

Finally. When LG does something original. It typically rocks.

Boom. Very few mm of bezels. Still their rear part of the phones are ugly. Should hire phone designers from Sony/Samsung/Apple phone.

There is a small horizontal stip black screen at the top of the display, which works as a ticker screen seperate from the main display. You can see icons(app shortcuts) and two camera lenses arranged along it

Is a one giant ass screen not enough?

I'd say they first have to make their UI more cohesive. LG has one of worse looking UI for Android, besides those iOS like ones. But it is a good thing they are still using 808 for this, hopefully they could have figured out how to optimise the 808 better.

All android manufacturers except Samsung & Huawei doesn't seem to have any other option. Use 810 or 808.

That's the sad truth. But it sounds like HiSilicon Kirin 950 and Mediatek Helio X30 may be quite the competitors. Hopefully they compete with 820 and not 830.
