LG intros the 23 karat gold-plated Watch Urbane Luxe, alligator leather strap included
LG today announced an exclusive version of its Watch Urbane (which was released via Google Store back in April). Called LG Watch Urbane Luxe, the new version of the wearable device will be released at the end of October in collaboration with US-based jewelry company REEDS. The watch is plated with 23-karat gold, has an alligator leather strap (available in various colors), and comes in an "exclusive piano-gloss lacquer case."

Obviously, the LG Watch Urbane Luxe will be expensive: LG says it's going to be sold for about $1,200. Only 500 units will be made, each with its own serial number. For the beginning, the new smartwatch will be available only in the US, via REEDS.com, and at REEDS Jewelers stores. Pre-orders are open starting today.

Apart from its fancy exterior, the LG Watch Urbane Luxe is not different from the regular Watch Urbane (you can check out our review of it here). This means it runs Android Wear, and features: a 1.3-inch circular display with 320 x 320 pixels, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of internal memory, quad-core Snapdragon 400 CPU, and a 410 mAh battery. So there you have it: if you want a gold-plated smartwatch that runs Android (instead of Apple's Watch OS), you'll soon be able to buy one.
