LG G4 carrier retail price revealed, lower than the Galaxy S6 or One M9

Thanks to a pair of giveaways run by Sprint and T-Mobile, the retail LG G4 pricing has been revealed, and it is quite a bit lower than the other seasonal flagships. According to the contest's rulebook of Sprint "eight (8) potential winners will each receive one (1) LG G4 Smartphone. The estimated Approximate Retail Value ("ARV") of each prize is $600.00."
Entry Period 1: Seven (7) LG G4 mobile devices. Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”): $600.00 each. Entry Period 2: Seven (7) LG G4 mobile devices. ARV: $600.00 each. Entry Period 3: Seven (7) LG G4 mobile devices. ARV: $600.00 each. Entry Period 4: Seven (7) LG G4 mobile devices. ARV: $600.00 each. Total ARV of prizes: $16,800.00"T-Mobile is giving seven of those each week, for a total of 28 LG G4 handsets, and the ARV is still pegged at $600: "
There you have it - while this might still be a slightly subsidized retail price that reflects the vast quantities of a particular model that carriers are able to order, it is still $50 less than what they are charging for, say, the Galaxy S6, or the HTC One M9. Any takers?

The rear camera doesn't outright beat the Galaxy S6 and the S6 has a better processor, GPU, front facing camera, display, better software, third party support and better firmware support. You can also say the materials in the S6 are more high quality as well. Since Samsung got a lot of flack for using plastic in the past. There are only a few advantages the G4 has over the S6, and most of them can either be supplemented for or they don't have a profound impact on most typical user's experience or consideration. (SD card and removable battery). You get what you pay for though.

Why does all G4 articles lead to comments about the S6? Yes the S6 is better in benchmarks and may have also a good camera and a great display but why bother? Some people like the S6 some the G4 or any other phone. Most people don't care about benchmark results or anything like that. So be happy with your S6 but please stop to fill up all G4 articles with S6 comments.

Did you read the title and the article Mr. Butthurt? It is comparing the pricing between the G4, S6 and m9! So it is logical to see in the comments section specs comparisons and which is more valuable to each consumer.

I think I agree with you...a good summary there. I've lost count of the number of reviews I have read / watched for these devices. I have to choose my next phone soon and these two are currently top of my list. I just want to see what Sony do first (if anything) before making a final decision. Hopefully by then all of the initial launch issues will have been ironed out on the G4/S6, and I can make an informed decision based on longer term user reviews.

Wouldn't necessarily say one is better than the other. Based on preference since they have have to offer features the other does not. Stop being a fanboy

I hate to compare these phones to last year's tech but I don't really feel that either the Galaxy S6, or the LG G4 are $250(G4) or $350(S6) better than the 64 GB OnePlus One at $350. Sure they're higher in PPI but they're higher into the diminishing returns levels of detail, 1080p is plenty high enough resolution for 5.5" at 401 PPI. They also have faster processors and GPUs, which is nice but at twice the price? Again diminishing returns because they're not twice as fast. The camera is better on both the G4 and S6 however again diminishing returns because the OnePlus One is already the greatest camera in a smartphone I've ever owned, it's better than the Note 3 I had which supposedly had a great camera(although I disagree). So the images would already have to be better than great to be better in any way. The only thing the G4 has over the OnePlus One that I REALLY WANT back is the IR Blaster. I loved that on my Note 3. Honestly the only one of the two between G4 and S6 I'd consider is the G4. After hearing multiple reviews knocking the S6 for its battery life I can't even use that, 3000 mAh is my minimum battery size I can live with. At $600 the G4 is a difficult sell to me though. If my OnePlus One broke tomorrow I'd buy a 5.5" Alcatel Idol 3 for $250. Because the G4 isn't $350(over twice the price) better than the Idol 3.

the premium material on s6 has some serious disadvantages you can't easily replace the back glass once it got dented or cracked the phone is too slippery and not feels good less comfort when you are holding it with your hand.

No you are wrong! Lots of people are saying that G4 has a better camera ON MANUAL MODE! Can you use shutter speed? Does the S6 have 2700 ISO? Can the S6 take Raw pictures???? In low light condition, I will be able to push the G4 to the limit... And you can't with the S6... Not to mention the F1.8 G4' aperture... So how can you say a such stupid thing like that... Wait for a video comparison of G4 vs S6 on MANUAL MODE!!!! Now, PRICE!!!! I can only buy a device at full price! I kept my Galaxy S3 for 3 years, and I replaced every year my S3' battery... Let me see spending for the S6 32 gb $684 or $600 for the LG G4???? I am all about camera... I had the Note 4, LG G3, and Lumia 1020, I love manual mode... But I hate windows OS... So, I will take all my pictures using RAW FORMAT, what do I NEED??? A MICROSD!!!!!!! I cannot wait to install my Samsung EVO 128 GB MicroSD :-) If you keep the S6 for more than one year... You will start to see battery issues... That's a fact... By the way, the lots of people are complaining how fragile the S6 is... Actually, just go to Android Authority and watch the review, the unit was easily damaged, cracking the S6's lens... Now, totally true... The S6 has a much more powerful CPU and GPU... But the LG G4 you can run any app or game with no problem... So... After reading reviews on Android Authority, Phone Arena, Pocket Now and ANdroid Central... The LG G4 is the best choice for what i am looking for in a smartphone...

Most users will just use auto and the Galaxy S6 takes better shots using auto so for most people the Galaxy S6 has the better camera, it also takes them faster and the OIS is a lot better for video as well. Pro/Manual mode are useful to have but unlikely to be used a lot, besides the Pro mode on the Galaxy S6 will be updated soon enough with new features, it's just software. Also it's not true you can run any game without a problem, if you define lower framerates in games as a problem (which I do by the way) then you're completely wrong.

Totally disagreed... The S6's ISO can go only to 800... The G4's ISO can go to 2700... Also, go watch on youtube The newest video comparison of PHONE ARENA, The G4 vs S6... PHONE ARENA SAID THE G4 has a better performance in low light condition, because of shutter speed, ISO (2700) and F1.8... That's not a software issue... Good luck waiting for the update for the S6 camera... Again.. I understand and I agree, on auto mode the S6 is better... On manual mode, it's not... And I AM ALL ABOUT USING MANUAL MODE!!!! I couldnt care less about the auto mode... Again, I am planning to keep my phone for 3 years... I won't be able to keep my S6 for 2 years... BECAUSE OF THE BATTERY!!!! You know this better than me!!! I am not getting the G4 for gaming, I have a PS4... Either way, all reviews have said so far, it's not a big deal, it sould be ok to play any game on the G4... So... G4 is cheaper and more durable... Again, go to Android Authority, and watch the S6 review... How easy the camera lens got damaged...

Of course, the S6 has a fantastic camera... I am just saying that the G4 has a better performance by using the manual mode than the S6. Both Handsets have fantastic camera though... I just chose the G4 because it fits me better :-)

This article's about the price differences, not your personal biased preference on the various characteristics of the two phones. Stick to related S6 articles for your cheerleading as well as trying to justify your purchase of your phone.

I think the G4 needs to be free on a 2 year contract to sell, especially without a fingerprint scanner. The most I'd pay for a new G4 without contract would be $400.
