The Huawei Mate 30 could support 5G networks, CEO teases
5G connectivity is still a pretty new thing and even by this summer, very few people will have access to it. Precisely because of this, Huawei chose not to include support for the next-generation networks in its recently announced Huawei P30 flagships. But this could all change with the Mate 30 lineup.

In an interview with Digital Trends, the CEO of Huawei's Consumer Business Group, Richard Yu, admitted that the company is “considering” adding 5G connectivity to “the next Mate series.” Currently, 5G networks aren’t ready and are instead still under construction, but by “this fall” they should be up and running and large enough to warrant 5G support inside the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro.

As a result of this and the lack of 5G connectivity of the Huawei P30 series, Huawei does recognize that certain consumers will choose to wait before purchasing a new smartphone. The company, however, believes that “most will not wait” because 4G “is good enough.”

In any case, for the early adopters out there Huawei has two offerings up its sleeves. Soon it’ll be releasing a 5G version of the Mate 20 X to please the more mainstream consumers with tighter budgets. But those of you out there looking for all the latest tech will be able to purchase the foldable Huawei Mate X which integrates 5G connectivity as standard.
