How to stop individual pictures from syncing to Google Pictures
Google's picture auto-sync is a cool thing indeed – all your photos get uploaded to the cloud and will not get lost if your phone happens to get damaged, lost, wiped, or you just forget to copy some of them over when you upgrade. But there is one thing that may irk you often – since the app syncs all images that it finds on the phone, your Photos may end up being filled with your new phone's wallpapers, any screenshots you may take, and other system images that just have no place in a gallery where you store your memorabilia. And, since Google's Photos app is all about syncing information between your device and the Google cloud, if you delete the pictures from it, you will also lose them on your phone storage. And nobody wishes to delete their wallpapers, right?

Well, before you choose to disable auto-sync in frustration, know that there is a workaround for that. Namely – you can choose which of your picture folders get uploaded or not. This way, you can disable sync for the libraries, which house your wallpapers and screenshots. Just be sure to do this before any syncing actually occurs, as afterwards, deleting the pics from the Google Pictures app, even if the folders have been unchecked, will result in them being wiped from the device as well – yeah, that's kind of annoying.

Another poorly written PA article by another anonymous author. I can understand that the articles are scaled to a sixth grade reading level, but the numerous grammar errors are pitiful. For example, four en dashes were used, but none of them were implemented correctly. Unfortunately, the butchering of the English language has been common and more or less accepted on this site. What a shame.

That being said, I did not know how to pick and choose folders to sync. So for that I am grateful.

Two profiles I see :D You might wanna read the rules: Multiple accounts - one person can have only one account

Hmm... for someone with an avatar of Sherlock, you're not all that bright. This is my only profile.

1. The phrase 'that being said' is generally used in the context of your own and not others. Insinuating you are the one who said the previous statement (or comment in this case). 2. Also, the statement 'FOR THAT......grateful' means you are only grateful for that and not the rest and if we join the dots you clearly criticize the author's english in the previous comment. Another point hinting that commented earlier. 3. Both your profile names 'Scott93274' and 'kevin91202' are similarly structured i.e. 5 letters followed by 5 letter postcode. 4. Both the places, according to the postcodes in latter part of your names, are not too far considering PA's users are all over the world. 5. Lastly, its highly possible that profile 'Scott' came to like 'Kevin's comment but forgot to switch back the profile when elaborating Kevin's comment because when I commented (which was just seconds after yours and kevin's) Kevin already had a like which is very uncanny considering I commented seconds after both the comments. Finally, Sherlock's picture doesn't mean I am imitating him. It just symbolizes I am a big fan of that show. It would've been a different story if I had even named my profile that. PS: Even Sherlock isn't always right. It's the explanation that counts. PSPS: Sorry for the long post. Its Sunday and I am bored :D

Damn you have a lot of time on your hand. LOL, No, I did actually at one point have a second profile but it was immediately locked up because of the rules you stated above. I am not this Kevin91202, the fact that he also uses a postal code in his user name that is about a 3 hour drive from the one that I use is strictly coincidental. It is in reference to a zip code, but it's been 15 years since I lived in the area. And for me to have written both comments would imply that I am a bit bi-polar with my arguing, Kevin is furious with the author of the article, while I support the efforts of the people taking the time to give PhoneArena readers information on things that are relevant to our interests. And I should stop making judgments on people's profile images... look at mine after all. LOL

"...Kevin is furious with the author of the article..." -Scott93274 I'm not furious with the author. In fact, I couldn't care less about the author. But, I am very displeased that this hack website continues its subpar operations with subpar writing and subpar attitude towards its readers. BTW, my profile name has nothing to do with a "zip code". Zip codes refer to the USA. I am not.

You can't, there's no Photo app, but it is included in G+ app.

According to 9to5google, a recent update to Google Drive is indicating that the app is going to take over the responsibility of auto backup of people's photos soon. I'm completely on board with this because I like to organize my own photos and videos and Drive gives me this option. But my point being is that the setup in this article might not be relevant for very much longer if Google follows through with it.
