How to coax better battery life out of the Apple Watch

How to coax better battery life out of the Apple Watch
The Apple Watch is pretty great at being a smart-watch, but what it offers in design and software polish, it sadly cannot match in awe-inspiring battery life. It will take a few generations of the device before Apple works out a way to extract truly impressive longevity out of the tiny battery that goes into the Watch. But upcoming software updates should make the situation better for Watch owners.

Until Apple gets there, though, give these five options to increase battery life a try and see whether they work for you, or don't quite cut it!

I can't say I won't be buying a smart watch "until they become better" because it simply doesn't work like that in my head for me (only reason I don't own an Apple Watch is because I'm not a fan of square faces in general). I don't like complaining about pricing for smartwatches ($250 for 360, $350 for Apples, etc) because most quality, nice looking, or functional watches are already around that price range. But anyway, when I see people who complain about pricing, it simply makes no sense to me and humors me. You're already paying 200, 300, 400, 800, 2000, 2800, 10000, 20000, etc, for a nice watch. What more do you want when the industry is beginning to flap its wings? You get delivered a product that couldn't do what a normal watch could do 3 years ago. You have apps and function you could never have right on your wrist. I saw someone complaining on here the other day about the price of the Moto 360. Really? If you think price is a problem for smartwatches, you should probably go buy one of the $49 watches on the center isle watch booth in Macy's.

Some people are cheap this days cause of laziness and underpaying jobs. Besides, for me smartwatches are still some status icons and I see no reason why to buy one except flashing it off to your friends

IMO it goes further than that, why does a smartwatch need to be round? The introduction of digital watches saw a flurry of popular squarish designs.

My 10000$ watch wont be outdated in 1 year.. Its also never need charging and is lifetime warranted against load of thing. Its also always work fully whitout needing to play around with the setting ect. So yeah its just plain work like its should unlike the Apple watch ( funny as ppl told me the same about iphone a few year back thats they just work as intended... well now they dont work as intended much lol ) In act if i think its pricy then i wont buy it at all and wont search for cheaper alternative.. Why? i dont need it my smartphone allready do all this whitout any battery issues or having to play around with setting for nothing. Everything else i need i allready have on my cheap 10000$ watch. I have time and date the main reason a watch exist. And even if tomorow all electronic on the planet fry i will still have it. If i go camping for 2 weeks where there is no electricity i will still have the time as intended. So thats all i need.

Your watch is just a watch. If you want to keep time it's ok. But the world moves forward and people love their Apple watch - It's turning into a big revolution like with iPad. There were feature phones and the iPhone, there are watches and an Apple Watch.

The battery is much better than I expected. Everyday I have about 40% when I put it for charge before going to the bed.

Agreed I wake up at 7 and sleep at 12-1 and have about 30% left everyday

Yeah, that's because the watch is off for the majority of the time. Apple even made a guideline for watch developers, and the watch is suppose to be on no more then 10 seconds.

Do you leave your phones screen on when you don't use it ? No. Apple watch is like a tiny powerfull computer on your wrist. So why waste power ? To show off time to others ? I think it's actually pretty smart. Turn on with a wrist twist, look up for information, give it a few taps and turn off as fast as possible for longer battery life. Why you are taking it as a negative ? Because it's Apple ?

Because you don't need it for anything. However my Gear S and 4 times the features it still.last 2 days on a single charge. I have way about and yet I'm not. So what are you bragging about?

Optimization has never been Apple's strength. My iPad and iPhone all lag more than my Android phones and have worse battery life despite being a simple shell OS.

You could probably sell your iPhone 3g and iPad 1 for a couple bucks

My iPad 2 said otherwise. BTW, iOS 8 has been a problem for me. It's just really buggy. Previous versions were so much better. What's worst is you cant downgrade your OS. My iPad runs a bug free iOS 7. My iPhone 5 is really buggy though.

I have an iPad 3, which is better than your iPad 2. It's on 8.3, but it was equally terrible on iOS 7. Lots of lag. I can't believe Apple fans put up with this poor quality POS. Apple and quality are strange bedfellows.

AppleCultest, bulls**t. I own an iPad 3 and other than loading a few loaded apps a bit longer than usual it has been a good update. iOS 8 has been buggy early - but it's pretty good now. Like I said it's mostly graphic intensive apps/games that came out lately that load for a long period of time... The rest is damn good considering this thing is so old.

rofl... Applesexuals are the most deluded people I've seen. The iPad 3 on iOS 8.3 lags when opening apps, lags when typing, lags when closing apps, lags when scrolling through something that has more than 1 picture. It lags everywhere. Get Android. Higher quality OS. iOS is junk.

I have to agree. We and the wife both had an.iPad 2 and 3 together. Then I told her I wouldn't buy her another because I was done buying Apple products. But after iOS 8 it was merciless in lagging. I watched her get so mad at it. She got to a point she got back to using her PC more and her phone more. So I got her a Note 4 when I got mine. But she still wants larger but she didn't want a Galaxy tablet because it's just a repeat device. So.I sold her 3 to a family member and took that and bought a 128GB Air 2. I told her I am done If she wants another after this model she will have to buy it. I simply have my iPad 3 away. I bought my kid the original Mini and that's it. For myself I no longer have a tablet. But I awaiting to see if and when Sammy will.make a successor to the Note 12.2. Whatever fool at Apple inks a tablet CA use just 1GB of ram is a fool and the same for the phone. It is sad that today's iPhone and iPad don't do much more than the.originals.

Why do you call apple users "applesexuals"? Do you really hate me?

Since ios 8 Apple product became really buggy and unstable. Even my boss who is an Apple lover agree. Sorry but its the reality.

Since iOS 8? Every single iOS update was really a de facto malware update intended to lag and crash your device so you can buy the next iPad or iPhone.

No one is forcing you to buy an iDevice, nor do you have rights to insult people who knows what they buy better than you.

I didn't imply I was forced to buy an iDevice. I was hammered by Applesexual filth about how smooth and flawless Apple products were. They were slightly less smooth than Android phones at the start, but future updates slow your device down to a crawl. At least Android updates don't make your device worse. Apple intentionally shoves malware to your iDevices to make you upgrade to newer versions. Also, I did not insult you Applesexual. I was just surprised at how deluded you are. Android owns iOS. That is undeniable at this point. Not only is it more flexible than iOS, it crashes less and lags less.

What Apple device you got ? Show me how they are "less smooth" than android. Prove me that android updates never introduce problems to your device. Also If Apple is slowing down devices intentionally to force people buy never devices, why it takes them three years to do so ? Why they are releasing updates that improve performance on older devices then ?

iPhone 4, iPhone 6, macbook pro 2009, iPad 3. All of them are slow and laggy. They crash every other app. I didn't say Android updates never introduce problems to your device, but they don't make your device laggy and stuttery like iOS updates.

I'm with you on this one I love how apple fan said iPhone have no laggg.. check the apple forum of people complaining about lag and app crashing with out any notification

Because they made updates that slowed them dowm. I recall how iOS made the iPhone 4 slow and a lady actually sued Apple because she couldn't downgrade to a version that worked better. She claimed apple.did this to force you to buy a new devices you wouldn't have purchased otherwise. Did they not make an update to try to go.back and fix it? Why did it even get out the door knowing full.well the 4 would be slow? Most Android OEMS won't even.load a new OS on older hardware and know it will be slow. You all.brags about updates when most of them was to fix stuff they broke.

My tizen watch offers me 4 days of battery life. Sorry, but charging a watch every day sucks a lot. I would be to lazy to charge my gear on a daily basis. Also, it will kill your battery quite efficiently when you charge it so often with 30% of juice and above.

Tizen? What is this? We are talking about Apple and you are talking about tizen!!!!!!!
