Helio and Yahoo! enter partnership
Helio, the Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) targeting young people, announced that it has partnered with Yahoo!. Through this partnership the MVNO, which is expected to launch in the US this spring, will be able to provide its customers with access to a range of Yahoo! web services for mobile phones. The services, which will be integrated in the Helio handsets' software, include:
Yahoo! Search: allows users to search just by typing in a search term on their Helio handset home screen just as if they were dialing a phone number. Users will also be able to use Yahoo! Shortcuts to get a quick access to information on restaurants, movie showtimes, sports scores, weather, and stock quotes.
Yahoo! News, Sports, Finance and more: provides one-touch links to a full range of Yahoo!'s content services including News, Sports, Finance and Movies. There will also be news feeds on selected topics directly on home screen.
Yahoo! Mail: allows users to access their Yahoo! Mail account, reply, forward, delete and move messages to folders as well as add, edit or delete contacts in their Yahoo! Address Book.
Yahoo! Messenger: allows users to muse Yahoo! instant messaging service, providing access to to the existing friends' list and allowing to sent and receive messages.
