Google's new Daydream View VR headset leaks out: new materials, slightly higher price

Along with two new Pixel phones: the HTC-made Pixel 2 with the new Kinda Blue color, and the larger, LG-made Pixel 2 XL with that panda look, Google will also announce a brand new Daydream virtual reality headset, according to a huge leak about the upcoming October 4th Google event, obtained by Droid-Life.

The new Daydream virtual reality headset will likely be called Daydream View and will come with a slightly more rugged looking style, with a Charcoal, Fog, and Coral color options, as well as with a $20 higher price that suggests improved features as well.

There are no further specifics apart from that picture above that shows the new Daydream View with the new controller next to it in great detail.

The new, $100 Daydream View should go on sale at this link here on the Google Store, shortly after the October 4th event wraps up.

Just let Daydream work on LCD screened phones. Let everyone use it.

VR NEEDS at least a low persistence/strobing i.e. frame -> blank frame -> frame (60 frames AND 60 blank frames a second) AFAIK Sharp's 120Hz IGZO displays are the only LCDs that can do that Without that it will turn people off VR due to motion sickness

Two things are wrong with LCD displays. Most are slow to refresh in comparison to OLED, and OLED have much better contrast. So black parts are off, where as an LCD the display would still be left on.
