Google is launching Art Selfie – match your selfie to famous works of art
Google's Arts & Culture app is arguably the best virtual museum you can "visit" from your smartphone right now, but back in January, it captured the fancy of millions not with interesting information and history about the fine arts, but with a feature that could match your selfie to a famous painting. Because of course. Following the success of the feature in the Arts & Culture app, Art Selfie is now getting broader integration in Google Lens.

Art Selfie is powered by Google's computer vision technology based on machine learning. When you snap a photo of yourself, the image is compared to faces in artworks provided by Google museum partners. After a short moment, you will see your results along with a percentage to estimate the visual similarity of each match and your face. And if you actually want to learn more about the piece of art your mug was just compared to, you can tap on the picture to discover more information about it and its author. Neat!

Previously, when it was an exclusive feature of the Arts & Culture app, Art Selfie was restricted to the US only. However, with the new roll-out, it's expected to become available globally.

Keep your eye out for Art Selfie as an option in Google Lens. It should work both through Google Assistant as well as Google Photos. The feature is now live in the UK, with other regions expected to follow suit in the coming weeks and months. Art Selfie is available in Google Lens on both Android and iOS.
