Google Pixel and Pixel XL phones could be available to pre-order starting October 4

Google Pixel and Pixel XL phones could be available to pre-order starting October 4
Google is reportedly ditching the Nexus brand, and is getting ready to announce two new phones called Pixel (codenamed Sailfish) and Pixel XL (codenamed Marlin). Last week, we heard that the upcoming handsets should be officially announced on October 4, and it looks like this is also the day when they're going to be available to pre-order.

According to Ausdroid (a reliable source), Australian carrier Telstra will start taking pre-orders for at least one of the Pixel phones on October 4. Most likely, this means that pre-orders will also go live on October 4 in other parts of the world, including the US.

Ausdroid notes that the Pixel phone(s) will be launched on October 20 in Australia. Naturally, we're expecting Google to release at least one of its new handsets at about the same time in other markets.

At the moment, there's no word on the prices of the Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL, but the latter will certainly be more expensive than the former. That's because, as its name suggests, the Pixel XL will be larger, sporting a 5.5-inch Quad HD screen, instead of the 5-inch 1080p display of the regular Pixel. Nevertheless, the two Pixel phones should share many of their features, including Android 7.1 Nougat, Snapdragon 820 processors, 4 GB of RAM, and 12 MP rear cameras.

Both the Google Pixel (allegedly pictured above) and Google Pixel XL are seemingly manufactured by HTC, which returns to making phones for Google after a six year hiatus. As you may know, the now legendary Nexus One from 2010 was made by HTC.

While we're a bit sad to see the Nexus name go away, we're pretty excited about Google's next generation smartphones. How about you?

If this has a great battery life and great camera I may have to consider saying goodbye to my OnePlus 3. We will see I guess, good thing about OnePlus devices is they don't lose much value.

I'll reserve judgement until I see real definitive pricing.

Let's hope the pixel is better than the 5x which had underpowered ram & upside-down camera sensor.

Battery performance on pixel is going to be as bad as in nexus 5x. I do not understand why cannot they put atleast 3000mah battery inside a 5.2 inch smartphone, when xiaomi can insert 4000mah in 5inch mobile.
