New report has it that LG will make the Pixel 3, LG dismisses it as "pure speculation"

According to a fresh report from a Korean publication, LG is "expected" to manufacture the Google Pixel 3 family of smartphones that should be released sometime in 2018. Until then, of course, Google will first have to launch the Pixel 2 series - however, like the Pixel and Pixel XL (pictured above) from last year, this will probably be made by HTC.

As you likely know, until now, LG and Google have partnered on various occasions. LG manufactured three smartphones for the Mountain View giant - Nexus 4, Nexus 5, and Nexus 5X - all received quite well by Android enthusiasts. So it would, perhaps, make sense for LG to build some future Pixel handsets, too. But we're not at all sure that this is the case with the Pixel 3.

We've contacted LG to inquire about this matter. The company says that the Pixel 3 story from the Korean media is "pure speculation", so, for now, we have no reasons to believe there's any truth to it. Sure enough, Google will (almost certainly) release a Pixel 3 series in 2018, but it remains to be seen what company is going to manufacture it.

Regardless of who gets to make the Pixel 2 and Pixel 3, we certainly hope Google will address the supply constraint issue that makes it difficult for consumers to buy the original Pixel models.
