Google Nexus 4 rubber bumper is bumped
Google has decided just like that, to no longer offer the black rubber bumpers for the Google Nexus 4. The stock Android handset had been nearly impossible to find for most of last year and currently the 16GB model ships two to three weeks after an order is placed with the Google Play Store. T-Mobile had a huge sale for the device last month with the price slashed to $49.99 with a signed two-year contract. Like the phone itself, the bumper had an up and down history of being available in the store. Last week, the grey cover for the Google Nexus 7 tablet was also pulled from the store.
It is possible that Google has stopped selling the black bumper in order to replace it with a different color. Recently, a white rubber bumper for the Google Nexus 4 was spotted at a Canadian retail store. The strange thing about the whole affair is that the black bumper was just re-stocked for the online store earlier this week.
If you're an Android fan, there is a positive thought you can take away from this. Perhaps the bumper, and the Google Nexus 7 cases before it, are getting pulled before some new models are introduced that make these accessories obsolete. A nice thought, yes? And Google I/O is not that far away!
