Giant Samsung Galaxy J Max breaks cover, 7-inch screen included

Like many of Samsung's other Galaxy J phones, the Galaxy J Max is an affordable product with features that can't really impress anyone. The device's 7-inch display has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, which means it's far from being a sharp screen. The J Max also comes with a quad-core 1.5 GHz processor, LTE connectivity, dual SIM support, an 8 MP rear camera, 1.5 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of expandable storage space. The handset measures 186.9 x 108.8 x 8.7 mm, includes a 4000 mAh battery, and unfortunately runs Android 5.1 Lollipop. All in all, the Galaxy J Max can be seen as a distant successor to the 7-inch Samsung Galaxy W from 2014.
The Samsung Galaxy J Max will be available in India starting later this month for around $200 (13,400 INR) off contract. At the moment, we don't know if the device will be released in the US, or in other markets. Would you buy a giant smartphone like this one?

Seems like a small battery for a 7inch screen, but the resolution is low so it should be good. I remember Samsung had a 7inch tablet in the past which could also make calls, they called it tablet before, wonder what made them change their mind and call this a smartphone. The ability to make calls doesn't make a device become a phone, but the portability.

We went from yesterday Samsung is rumored to be making a 7" phone to, BOOM! Today's it here! I don't think anyone in the USA would buy it. Doesn't look terrible thought. 720p isn't bad consider its $200. The iPhone 6S is 649 and its 750p, so not much difference there. Its a $200 phone not pretending to be $700. Unlike a phone we know that costs $200 to make and is $1400 in India.

It's amazing how you can make everything about the iPhone when the article has nothing to do with it. You'd make a great marketing executive if it weren't for the "Samsung is the Primordial God which all humans should worship!!!" attitude you have towards everything. BTW, this is a terrible phone for $200, since you can get one of Android's 2015 flagships for that much (that's a joke in itself) with better specs.

I had the Sony Xperia Z Ultra for a few months and was not at all bothered by the size, so if Samsung were to make a flagship-spec'd device at this size, I might consider it.

Maybe those in India have bigger hands (like Africans have bigger d*cks and Europeans bigger brains)?

Mi max cost Rs.15000 and j max cost Rs.13500. Anyone can clearly see that mi max is slightly costlier than j max but not cost twice. And 6"44 inch screen is more better to hold than 7" inch screen. And I don't talk about specs because everyone knows who is better.

This will do decent business in India. The specs are not too bad and crucially, the pricing is just right. Despite being out priced and out specced by chinese brands, Samsung is one of the few top tier companies still hugely trusted and sought after by Indians.

Samsung are the worst company in the world. What is the logic behind the release of this phone? Pretty much nothing and that says it all. Releasing the same kind of phones every year, Passing off trivial gimmicks as innovation, imitating Apple with a view to maximising profits. This company should go down the drain and the world will be a much better place.

Well this device comes close to what a phablet should be: finally 7"; it would have been nice to have at least 8-9" if not 10, but it's a start. I have always thought the Note has such a small display, I couldn't even see a 3D IMAX (porn) movie on it, but 7" is the sht! I have always had problems locating the note in my suit jacket pockets, because it is such a tiny phablet: that problem will be gone.
