Galaxy S6, S6 edge across Europe & Asia now receive an OTA update: improved fingerprint scanning, more

The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge have already been on the shelves for a month now, where they are reportedly a massive hit among consumers. True to the flagship status of the devices, Samsung has made a good job in keeping its newest devices up to date. Recently, the European version of the forerunner received a minor update in certain regions, while another one aimed to improve the memory management of the phones.

A new update is currently rolling out across Europe and Asia under the XXU1AOE3 build number and is 159MB in size. We can say that this one is a tad more major update than the previous ones as it comes with a number of interesting improvements and enhancements in tow.

In particular, the newest software update improves the performance of the touch-based fingerprint scanner.

It also brings a new undisclosed feature to the built-in Photo editor. The general compatibility with accessories has also been improved.

Last, but not least, we have a further-improved interface of a few apps, like Email, S Planner, etc. The changelog doesn't list any other improvements, but we are somewhat certain that the usual performance and stability hotfixes have been included as well.

The update should hit your Galaxy S6/S6 edge over-the-air shortly, provided that you are eligible for getting it, mind you.

I didn't get it on my G920I. Though I'm more interested in that memory leak fix that landed in UK 2 days ago.

I have the "fix" SW..the phone seems more stable and smoother but really, I have the same RAM issue(maybe a little better but still awfull) so I don`t know if that "fixes" much im afraid

That's sad. That means we will have to wait till 5.1.1 to fix the issue. Can you try a thing for me. Close all apps and kill all from the smart manager. How much RAM do you have free after that? Mine is 700 MB and it's awful.

Sammy spoke of 70mil units. The reality: around 43mil, deducted from Google's search statistics. And Sammy reported a YoY decline of 53% for Q1 in Chinese market. RIP Sammy. Blame Android.

My comment was against "a massive hit among consumers". It isn't.

We will see about that when they announce it at the end of the year. Meanwhile, you can practice your android hate.

What? The 70M units is a forecast for the year! So how can Google search see that? Doubt even 43 mill are out by now.

If 43mil for 2 months isnt a hit then you are a retard. Keep in mind thats Q1 while S6 got out in April so thats the start of Q2. I knew you are a moron but this much lol.

I got the update but even after the update my Hotspot tethering is still not working. My Galaxy S6 Edge is encrypted. Seems like there is a bug that after yo encrypt the device Hotspot Tethering stops working. There is also a glitch to where if you have Wechat and you go up on top to do a search when you type in any name or word it types up several repeats of the word with autocorrect. Some bug in there as well.
