European Samsung Galaxy S6 receives update to repair memory issue

European versions of the Samsung Galaxy S6 are receiving an OTA update that fixes a problem that some users are having with the handset's memory management. Apps in the background are closing earlier than they should be, and the phone is showing other signs of  having memory issues. To the rescue comes software version G920FXXU1AODG, which weighs in at 138.32MB.

According to the changelist, the update brings stability improvements, bug fixes, new and enhanced features and further improvements to performance. Reportedly the update was exactly what the doctor ordered. Affected Galaxy S6 users say that after installing the update, their handset runs "snappier."

The update is also expected to be coming to the European version of the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge. If you own either flagship model, keep your eyes peeled for the notification that the update has hit your device and is ready to be downloaded and installed on your phone. When you are ready to begin the updating process, make sure that you are using a Wi-Fi connection. Also, check to make sure that the battery has been recharged to at least 50%.

"Also every manufacturer updates its newest phones first." Wrong. The first phone to get the 5.0 was the s5 and then the S4, only then the Note 4 got it. Whatever... Samsung is already working on the 5.1.1 for the s6 and no word about the fixes for the Galaxy Note 4...

Sorry what I meant was their newest "Flagship" phone. As much as we would all like to think of the note as a flagship phone, Samsung foes not seem to think so. It will always be a second tier behind the S line. Just because it is so Mich Kore of a niche device, and the S is more of a mainstream for everybody kind of device.

Maybe the TouchWiz in Note 4 needed to be stabilized first before they send it out? Would you rather have a quick update with tons of bugs or a late but very stable one? Consumers, man, I tell you..

As for battery life itself, the G4 could be a good choice for buyers disappointed by usage times of the Galaxy S6. I've been getting around 16 hours per day with mixed usage consisting of web browsing, messaging, music streaming and photography using the rear camera. Phil has seen about the same. With more intensive usage patterns on LTE, with heavier camera use, this figure dropped to around 14 hours. To put that in terms of screen-on time, I've been getting around 4 hours with mixed indoor and outdoor use on Wifi and LTE. You'll get a full day comfortably, but little more. For most of us, that's not sufficient to comfortably squeeze a second day's use out of a single charge. But it is enough that I'm not worrying about the G4 needing a mid-day top-up, as many GS6 owners including our own editors have found. androidcentral many more reviewers agreed g4 does have better battery life than s6 phone arena should now correct the review on the g4 battery and do another review at the same setting method they have done on the s6. so we can get the most correct score.
