Foxconn building Xiaomi and Asus handsets in Brazil, rumors say
Rumors say that Xiaomi is getting ready to launch its Redmi 2 (a.k.a. Hongmi 2) in Brazil, all the while Asus is making preparations to roll out the ZenFone 2 in the same country, some time in August. While this doesn't sound extraordinary by itself, it's the fact that the reports state the units sold will also be made in Brazil that is interesting – specifically because they claim that the phones are being manufactured by Foxconn in a Brazil-based plant.

Foxconn is, as you most probably know, the main builder of Apple's iPhones, but, of course, does not limit itself to work exclusively with Cupertino. We've recently learned that the Taiwan-based company is looking to construct a manufacturing plant in India, while earlier this year, we did hear about it planning to partner up with Xiaomi and build a plant in Brazil.

None of these reports, however, suggest that such a facility should be finished by now. This seems to oppose the rumors about Brazilian-made Redmi 2 and ZenFone 2 launching so soon – we just can't see the logistics of it working out, unless there is a secret manufacturing plant already built and churning out phones.

Still, whether the August date is correct or not, a Xiaomi-Foxconn partnership has been mentioned yet again. It is said that such a deal will look to expand the Mi's global reach, while, we assume, Foxconn will get to build the internationally sold phones. Those of you who crave a Mi 5 – would you say that's good news?
