EVO 4G's first commercial celebrates other firsts

Love it or hate it, there is no question that the HTC EVO 4G is a groundbreaking phone. The nation's first 4G handset is a stunning piece of technology and the first television commercial for the phone celebrates other "firsts" that have paved the way to bigger and better things. "Firsts" such as the wheel, the phonograph, the typewriter and the movie camera are some of the world's more important firsts. We then see cassette tape recorders evolve into calculators which evolves into the big boxy Motorola cellphones from the early days of wireless. Next we see the StarTAC flip phones, a BlackBerry and then the EVO 4G. "First moves us forward first. We all want first," says the announcer. It is a nice, visual ad that does show how things evolve. The commercial is a huge improvement over the Palm Pre spots that did nothing for Sprint when the webOS device was launched last year at about this time. "First is now," the announcer continues. Sprint, of course, is "The Now Network". A subtle hint, perhaps, that Verizon and AT&T should be looking over their shoulders?
