Do you own or have you ever owned a Chinese smartphone? (poll results)

On Tuesday, we wanted to know if the many, many cheap smartphones coming out of China have ever gotten you excited enough to reach for your wallet and pay for one, and now the results are in.

Over 1,600 of you cast their vote, and the majority, or 53.73% of all votes, said they've never owned a Chinese smartphone in their life. While this is a significant number, there's still almost half of the votes to account for, and they're split as follows: 30.87% of participants say they have a Chinese smartphone either in their pocket or nearby, while 15.4% no longer do, but used to.

All told, considering how difficult (relatively) it is to get your hands on such a device — they don't sell them in stores after all — it's telling that nearly a third of the folk who decided to participate indicate they already own one. With Chinese makers constantly improving, it'll be interesting to see if this split will differ significantly going forward.
