Cox abandoning cellphone sales as early as Nov. 16th
Cox Communications, most know for its television, Internet, and digital phone services, launched its own wireless service late last year. The self-described unbelievable fair wireless service offered competitive prices and promotions such as giving customers a credit on their bill for unused minutes.

Last May, it appeared that things were already going downhill when Cox decided to cease running its own network infrastructure and opted to run over Sprint’s CDMA network. Today Engadget obtained photographs of an internal employee communication that states Cox is abandoning its wireless offering altogether.

The document says that Cox will no longer sell Cox Wireless service effective Wednesday, November 16th.  Current customers will continue to receive service until March 30, 2012. As far as reasoning, the memo simply states, “We no longer see the 3G model as a strategic pursuit for Cox.
