Citymaps now has Offline Maps functionality with full mobile capabilities without a connection

Citymaps is a great mapping tool that's not built for navigation, but rather to become your personal travel guide by plotting your journey on an interactive map. It lets you plan trips, bookmark and keep a list of your favorite places, follow your friends' adventures and discover new places or activities to do.

The fantastic app received a major update that adds offline downloadable maps and nearly 100,000 city guides! The new ‘offline mapping’ functionality gives users access to free downloadable maps for more than 5,000 cities around the world. Now travelers shouldn't worry as much about having mobile data plans or Wi-Fi available.

When Citymaps' offline maps are downloaded to your device, you can search for specific places by type and get search results right on the map. Recent searches get remembered for future one-click use. In addition, users see a location's reviews, along with basic information like hours and website information. The map includes over 40 million searchable points of interest across several categories, including Must-See Travel Spots, Restaurants, ATMs, museums and hotels.

In addition to that, the Citymaps travel map includes functionality that users don't usually find in other mapping apps. It features free curated city guides (with 'must-see' lists of cities' top places), maps by top publishers such as The New York Times and leading travel experts. Moreover, just like a mobile version of a traditional tourist map, Citymaps uses business logos to represent places to visit, which lets users browse through familiar logos like Nike or Starbucks. This makes Citymaps very useful in foreign countries.

Why would I want to use this one instead of Here maps? As long as I have Internet connection I use Google Maps, otherwise,it's Here maps, and they are good.

Here maps kinda suck... For long distance drives, you will find shorter paths with GOogle Maps. I'm put off by Here because of this - it's INACCURATE.
