Check out the first HTC One M9 wallpaper (1080p screen seemingly confirmed)

Now that we know the final name of HTC's next flagship smartphone (it's going to be One M9, without parenthesis), how about a wallpaper for it? HTC ROM developer LlabTooFeR just posted the image on the left (click for full resolution), mentioning that it's one of the wallpapers that will be pre-installed on the One M9 - or HTC Hima, as it's also known.

The image is a 2160 x 1920 pixels one. This means that it's a scrollable wallpaper for 1080 x 1920 displays. As reported many times before, the One M9 should sport a 5-inch 1080p screen, while the One M9 Plus is supposed to feature a 5.2-inch Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) screen - for all those who think 1080p isn't good enough.

HTC is all set to announce the One M9 - and probably also the One M9 Plus - on March 1 at MWC 2015. Both new handsets should be powered by 64-bit, octa-core Snapdragon 810 processors, while running Android 5.0 Lollipop with Sense 7 UI.

Which of the two new Ones are you looking forward to checking out? Or maybe both? Let us know!

Pretty, this phone is going to rock. Although I wonder if there will be overheating issues.

What exactly is going to rock about it? It's going to be an M8 with a higher resolution camera.

Hopefully they make a worthy upgrade with the 20.7MP camera and a better battery life (S810 + 1080p screen).

Really you're going to pay 700-800 dollars for a few hours better battery life and a slightly better camera?

Congratulations, you just explained every yearly smartphone upgrade ever.

Which is why I'm still hanging onto my M7. I especially don't know why anyone would waste money upgrading from an M8 to M9. 810 barely any better than 801/805

i still use a galaxy s3 because i had no need for the upgrades so the gs6 should be a superphone to me

GS6 is the only phone that makes sense to upgrade to.

Other than a useless QHD screen that will chew up battery life, please explain what you believe makes the GS6 an obvious winner over the ONE M9. Do you want an iPhone 6 look alike or something?

Best display, best camera, fastest CPU, fastest GPU, probably fastest read/write times, Gear VR. Do I need more?

Yeah me too, GS6 should be a superior upgrade. You know, if the S810 is proven to be cool and does not overheat, i would have already decided that i will upgrade to the One M9 So let's wait and see actual reviews when both handsets are released .

It actually is quite a lot faster than 801. In overall Antutu benchmark (which tests CPU, RAM and GPU) 801 with FHD display does about 40000-42000, 810 with QHD does 61499. With FHD in M9 this thing will fly!

And do you REALLY need this yearly upgrade of cpu/gpu? What is wrong with your actual phone? It is an app or game that working slow? Or is just the fashion trend?

And the M8 was an amazing phone, with a dire need for a better camera. This device could literally just be the M8 with a higher resolution camera, and I myself would have to say it'd definitely rock. M8 GPE is my most favorite phone of all time.

I mean, they do say, if it's not broke, don't fix it. Basically commentator explained it. Most smartphone's only improve each year, so that's what we've been doing. the M8 excels in design, software (as far as not messing with performance), audio (dual front-facing stereo speakers). All it really needed was a camera update, and it was and is going to be perfect to everyone. So, why not? They've already added some great updates to the camera via Google Play. I think the only thing they could update or do something with is make the M9 Plus more Phablet friendly with some kind of software that would utilize it's size, and some accessories.

Aluminum is a conductor, plastic is an insulator.

Doubtful it will overheat with a full metal chassis. Metal is a natural heat sink, and all metal devices are able to sustain their performance longer than all plastic devices which insulate the heat.
