BLU R1 HD update brings T-Mobile VoLTE and Band 12 support for non-Prime customers

BLU released a maintenance update for the R1 HD back in November, which would enable support for T-Mobile VoLTE and Band 12. However, the update was only available to Amazon Prime exclusive version of the smartphone.

Today, more than seven months after the initial release, BLU allows customers who purchased the standard R1 HD model to download and install the update.

The official changelog mentions the update adds the VoLTE client for T-Mobile and Band 12 support, as well as the Android Security Updates. Unfortunately, it's unclear what security patch the update brings to the BLU R1 HD.

The update is pushed OTA (over the air) in stages, so make sure to manually check for it, if it doesn't show on your smartphone right away.

Once again, the update is aimed at customers who own the BLU R1 HD. If you bought the BLU R1 HD Prime Exclusive, then you already have the update on your smartphone.

Although both versions of the R1 HD come with similar specs, the Prime Exclusive model has an integrated Amazon experience that includes lockscreen offers and ads.

Moreover, the phone comes pre-installed with popular Amazon apps, which are meant to provide Prime members quicker access to their Prime benefits.
