Asus ZenFone 2 Laser and ZenFone Selfie promoted as "sushi-proof" phones

Asus ZenFone 2 Laser and ZenFone Selfie promoted as
The ZenFone 2 Laser and ZenFone Selfie are two of Asus' latest smartphones, and they have many things in common. For example, both devices come with 5.5-inch 1080p screens that are protected by Gorilla Glass 4.

To make sure the world knows how tough Gorilla Glass 4 is, Asus this week released a rather weird promo video. In it, a chef is cutting vegetables for sushi on the screen of a ZenFone 2 Laser, while also using the device to receive a phone call. One of the chef's aids tries to do the same with his phone (not a ZenFone), but ends up being thrown out of the kitchen. You can watch the video below (and hope that no chef out there is using smartphones in this manner - because, you know, smartphones are dirty).

Besides having tough displays, the ZenFone 2 Laser and ZenFone Selfie run Android Lollipop, and are powered by octa-core Snapdragon 615 processors. Other common features include 13 MP rear cameras with laser auto focus, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of expandable storage space, and 3000 mAh batteries. At the moment, only the ZenFone 2 Laser is available in the US, for prices starting at $199.99 (unlocked).

i think the Zenfone 2 Laser 5.5 Snapdagron 615, 3GB ram variant is for US only... because here in PH we only got the SD 410, 2GB ram, 720P 5.5" variant... or maybe its not available here yet.

SD 615 really? im guessing its 1.7 GHz octa-core should be enough for real life usage i suppose the 3GB should make it a good performer for $199 its quite a steal great work ASUS

SD615 is known for its heating issues.

No it is not. It is a Dissent performer, especially with the 3 G of RAM.It is just as fast in daily use as the 810, which did have issues with warming after heavy paying. Now, the new Snap Dragon 820 v2 in the NEXUS 6 P seems not to have anymore problems. Did any one ever consider the "Global Warming" as part of the problem?

I was talking about thermal management not performance. No matter if it's 3 or 4 GB or RAM, the cores on SD615 heat up on common tasks and ultimately drain your battery. We have yet to see the SD820 in action, so I assume you mean the SD810 v2 in N6P. And no, it's not global warming it's a heating issue that has to be resolved by OEM's. We cough our hard earned cash to get a decent device, only to receive faulty, rushed shelf-products like the SD SoC's recently.

Zenfone 2 in US, 64 G memory, 4 G of RAM, Intel Atom cost %299.00. The Zenfone 2 Laser with 16 G memory is $199.00 and with 32 G memory $249.00, both with 615 and 3 G of RAM. However, Thanks giving sale on Amazon and eBay for there days had the Zen 2 Laser with 32 G memory down to $199.00. Eat your heart out

I was holding off on buying a new flagship phone because none offered the sushi-proof feature. Countless times have I had sushi with my phone, but nothing to cut it on. Now, I finally don't have to worry about that anymore. What a time to be alive.

It's so ugly that people are using it as cutting board instead.

The ignorant and illiterate lack conversational skills and cannot write messages. The use the phone as an expensive cutting board. Lol
