Apple's 5.5" phablet and iPad Air 2 production to start in September, indicating a separate release event

Apple's 5.5
That 5.5" Apple phablet, the iPad Air 2 and next iPad mini? Sorry, those are unlikely to appear on stage together with the iPhone 6, and take any spotlight off the expected biggest handset redesign in the franchise history. Pouring water in the rumor mill that the new large-screen iOS device from Apple will appear at a later date, rather than the rumored September 19 event, is a report from downstream supply chain sources. The insiders claim that Apple has given them marching orders for mass production starting in September, which would likely mean a late October announcement for the iPad Air 2, the new iPad mini 3, just like last year. Eventually, this event will see the 5.5" phablet, too.

This is consistent with many similar rumors we've heard before, claiming that Apple's phablet production will start later than the iPhone 6's assembly, which should be in full force as we speak. The 5.5" sapphire panel for the alleged thin phablet is said to be pretty expensive, even in mass production, and previous speculation indicated that Apple is prepping to produce only 10 million units of the larger iPhone in total, compared to seven or eight times that amount for the eventual 4.7" iPhone 6.

My guess is that they will revert back to the 16GB with no release of the 5.5" phablet. So I am thinking 16, 32, 64 will be their lineup. 2-year pricing will go 199, 299, 399....Off contract pricing should go 699, 799, 899 The 5.5 will go 399 and 499 2 year pricing that may come in only 64 and 128. So my guess pricing will be 899 and 999 respectively.

So, you think the 4.7" & the 5.5" will cost the same (as indicated by your pricing of 64GB versions)? Doubt it.

If that's true, too bad. I would probably buy one. And if that's the case, I'll continue with the Note series and go with the 4.

You sure about that? The number of leaks for the 5.5 inch are crazy high...even Forbes is posting pics of both versions next to each other. If it isn't true, and there is no phablet, then it might be the most leak device to never exist! I think it makes sense to release them at different times. Think of all the people that will buy the 4.7 version and then want the 5.5 when it comes out a few months later.

I feel sorry for isheep.. they actually beleive the iphone 5.5 rumors every year.. and every year nothing. Eventually the rumor will be true but thats like saying "One day we will have a woman president in the US" yes it will happen.. EVENTUALLY.

to be honest, i believe the 5.5 inch iphone is going to be mostly for android fans looking to make the switch. Most iphone users around me (including myself) wont go for a ridiculously sized 5+ inch phone. In a grown up environment i would get laughed at for sure with that size

Yeah exactly. I also heard rummors about how Apple is going to relase the new iPhone and if it will not convert enough android users, they will start the even bigger new iPhone, if it will convert many android users then they will postpone the even bigger new iPhone indefinitely. Personally I think that whatever big phone you will make it's still way way small to even come close to a comfortable experience of an tablet. Even 7" feels crammed to me. I only use my phone as a main device when I forgot my tablet at home and when taking photos. So it's size doesn't matter at all to me.

This maybe my last year as an iPhone user. I have to see what Apple has to bring to the table. I'm not gonna spend money on the 6 if they'll be making another iPhone (just screen size improvement with no new features at all). Apple better get this right.

Can I ask the people here something? IF I were to go from Android to Iphone, what would I get to compensate for what I lose from android?

You'll lose a lot dude. I'm using Xperia z2 and my last iPhone which is 4s. Looking and using my iPhone vs Sony . Functionality and durability my Z2 is 2nd to none. Besides most of the apps in Apps store is already available in google play. So better thinks twice but if you have the money try it never hurt to experience it

That makes sense. I currently have a Sony Xperia Z and I was wondering how things are like on the other side of the river. With its loyal fanbase and from what I hear, Id like to know what huge benefits would I get on the Iphone, than I dont on an Android I have now.

Try it out for yourself, if you don't like it you have 14 to 30 days to return your purchase

Thats the whole point. I have to try it because I cant find anyone that can really convey the reason into words. Despite the fact I will make the final judgement, Id like to hear someone speak on behalf of the device against the other without sinking down into degradable actions. Although Ive played with the phone regularly, seen many of its desires, I havent be able to really see a reason to move TO IT from android, as in a benefiticial factor that will encourage me to switch over. Itunes over Play Music, Games over Play Games, the app selection is really the only thing I see, but I want to know from people who speak so highly of the Iphone, why should I switch?
