Apple iPhone 7 camera gallery: pics and video from this year's upgraded camera

Apple iPhone 7 camera gallery: pics and video from this year's upgraded camera

Apple's giving iPhone fans lots of reasons this year to upgrade to the new iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus: an incredibly fast new processor, water-resistant construction, extra-bright display, stereo speakers … we could (and probably will) go on. One of the most prominent changes hitting this year's crop of iPhones concerns upgrades to the phones' camera hardware – and that's especially true with the iPhone 7 Plus picking up an all-new dual-camera arrangement. While we can't wait to check out what that system can do, even the smaller iPhone 7 is enjoying a fancy new camera of its own, and we're wasting no time in bringing you some camera samples.

The iPhone line has long been known for having some very versatile cameras, making it easy to both snap some attractive still pictures and shoot sharp, clean high-def video. With the iPhone 7 and its upgraded 12MP shooter, that doesn't appear to be changing one iota.

The new camera keeps the same 12MP resolution as last year's iPhone 6s, while delivering improvements like a larger f/1.8 aperture for bringing in lots of extra light – a camera's best friend. We also see optical stabilization come to Apple's more petite handset, after being a 6s Plus exclusive.

We've got a new six-element lens to check out, as well as a more powerful LED flash to lend its assistance when lighting conditions demand it.

All these upgrades deserve a nice, long look – and that's just what we'll be doing as we begin putting together our full iPhone 7 review. Look for that in the coming days, but first we'll whet your appetite a little with an early preview of just what the iPhone 7's new camera can do.

I don't think my iPhone 6S Plus or S7 Edge record video with hand shake that subdued.

I feel like I just read a apple script. The iPhone s photo quality still will not exceed the S7 or HTC 10. Especially the slight telephoto camera.

You're right about it not exceeding the S7, but I disagree on the 10. I own that phone, and it's amazing no question, but the camera is just GOOD. The S7 and iPhone have GREAT cameras IMO.

I'd agree
The top 3 are S7/Edge/Note7, 7/7 Plus and 6P

I'd say S7/Edge/Note best overall, because the dual pixel sensor is on another level when it comes to speed, which is also very important

If we count manual, then the G5/V20 is amoung the best as well, but most people dont use manual controls

It's weird you say you own the phone and you think the camera is better on the s7. The s7 pics are all so yellowish is low-light. My mom has the s7 edge and I have the 10 but she prefers to use my camera to take pictures lol.

I've checked out some videos on the internet, iphone 7's camera is still not good as s7. But it certainly beats htc 10 tho.

http://www.cnet.com/special-reports/cameras-compared-iphone-7-plus-vs-galaxy-s7-vs-iphone-6s-plus/#7-vs-6S

It looks like S7 and 7+ at about on par. I have S7 edge and I'm still extremely happy with it's camera.

Wow, thanks for the link, it's easy to see it's better than the 6S Plus, but even my old Xiaomi Mi Note is "a lot" better than the 6S Plus. You can clearly see the iPhone 7 sadly still produces washed out photos, even more so in low light. The S7 is leagues ahead of iPhone's once again sub-par camera. Even their Keynote photos were very poor despite preaching otherwise.

The iPhone 7 takes some gorgeous photos under broad daylight and mixed conditions...but once it hits low light, the detail and white balance is better on the S7/Edge/Note7.

they are nice but it looks like they have been edited in snapseed(or similar) to give them that movie kind of effect. video is great though.

Saw the 4.7 today. Not as good as my note7 not even close. It could just be my QHD super AMOLED screen with HDR.

Yes. Nothing spectacular. The S6 still takes better clearer pictures, while through S7 takes better low light shots.

They do look slightly better than the last IPhone.

If all the extra camera is being used for wide angles, then adding a 20MP shooter with a larger lens would give similar results.

Just seems the extra camera is a gimmick. I don't want Samsung to do it. Please just drop a 20MP or larger camera with 1.7 lens.

My camera has enough zoom.

Sad!

Of course it's inferior than Samsung because it's an Apple...!

And Apple will ALWAYS be inferior than Samsung, no matter what...

Samsung is handcrafted by Gods from the Samsung Headquarters and blessed by the very chairman of Samsung Industries and are assembled by 1,000 finest virgin dames...

The birth of every Samsung phone is a miracle... The earth and the 'Galaxy' around it start to dance in sheer excitement... The stars smile upon the newborn Smartphones as they manifest themselves from the conveyer belt as though by sheer magic! And the moon shines its pleasant light like a mother's touch when the first night arrives on these masterpieces... And as the next day arrive, The sun bows in respect of the smartphones as it rise from the east and sets to the west... So mystical, so fantastical, so majestic and so surreal... If only words had the capacity to materialize the experience (sigh)...

G'Day!

BS. These are pretty nice pictures. If these pictures aren't great smartphone pictures quality then I don't know what is. Most have reviewers so far have said the iPhone 7 camera is great.
